Unabridged Audiobook
An enjoyable story, but if it was not for the characters that appeared in other books that this story spins off, it would have been boring. The main character Eric, has nothing much to really catch ones attention. His best friend is not at all likeable, but the story on the whole was entertaining although not really enticing enough to carry on with the series.
I’ve been following since magicians apprentice and I’m really enjoying the journey. This book was unique in that tells an epic sweeping story from the eyes of a commoner, a blacksmith. So we get to see what little details he focuses on which is very unique. The narrator is good. The magician narrator was the best and I wish he was still around. This guy doesn’t do a female voice as well and all of his Kiishi and accents are the same with this weird high-pitched nasal sound which it’s annoying. I feel like he also misses the mark on the voices of some of the monster types but nothing that’s super distracting. If you’ve listened to the narrator from any of the Witcher Audiobooks you’ll see it’s hard to come back from that because that dude is a straight up master narrator.
