Silos, Politics and Turf Wars: A Leadership Fable About Destroying the Barriers that Turn Colleagues into Competitors

Unabridged Audiobook

Written By: Patrick Lencioni

Narrated By: Eric Conger

Publisher: Macmillan Audio

Date: February 2006

Duration: 3 hours 35 minutes

Summary:

'Silos' are organizations' vertical structures-but the word has become synonymous with barriers to workplace effectiveness and connotes deep political infighting. Silos devastate organizations, kill productivity, push good people out the door, and jeopardize the achievement of corporate goals. They cause stress, exasperation, and disappointment by forcing employees to fight bloody, unwinnable battles with people who should be teammates.
Like his other fables, SILOS, POLITICS, & TURF WARS is fiction in realistic form, involving not one, but three organizations, all struggling to eliminate their silos and bridge a sense of alignment back in place.

This is the third book that I have read of his and I was not disappointed. Patrick does a great job of getting his points across through storytelling. However if you have not read any of Patrick’s books previously I would recommend starting with five dysfunctions of a team and then going to the advantage in between the two of those you will have most of what’s inside this book. Thank you.

Another excellent book from Patrick Lencioni. In the format of a fable, there are perfect opportunities to explain each part of the concepts from different angles.
