Summary
April Frost is a compassionate young woman with a steady job and ambitious goals. But the harder she runs away from her past, the more it threatens to destroy her. When three strangers enter her life, April is forced to face her demons, and it's a battle she may not win.

Private investigators in the Breed world are men who take risks, and Reno Cole is no exception. As a Shifter, he's expected to control his inner animal. But lately his wolf has been venturing dangerously close to the city, and he's about to discover why. When Reno is reintroduced to a family friend, the attraction is immediate. April captivates him with her secretive eyes and resilient spirit. She's also in trouble, and despite the fact that she's a human, Reno can't turn his back on her.

April is caught between two worlds: One that threatens to bury her dreams and another that could fulfill them. Can she trust the wolf at her door and find the courage to overcome her demons?

Loved the story. Narrator did good multiple voices except the lead-April- she sounded like a meek wimpy little girl not an adult

This book had a lot of twists to it. The character of April, even though the writer kept saying that she was strong, acted like "poor me" a lot. But overall it was a good story.

Pretty good story but the main characters voice is annoying.

Not my favorite of the seven books but it's definitely not predictable!

Not a good read. The reader’s voice is soft and irritatingly whinny. The character came across as weak. Total waste of time. Will not be reading any more of this series.

Lead character Reno is great but April is obnoxious. Fast forwarded quite a bit

April voice could have not been so frail. Obviously she is quite tough. But a great read otherwise.

Great story but the narrator’s voice really killed it. The influx and tone she uses for women is whiny, squeaky and beyond annoying, making the ‘strong female lead’ come off as a total chit. I was able to suffer through since I want to read the series and the first 3 are included in the audiobook club right now but if good narration is important for you to enjoy an audiobook, skip this one and read the series on your own.

The voice of April was very off putting

I was enjoying and tried hard to read until the end, but the female protagonist's voice is completely annoying. Just can't.

I thought it was good. There were a lot of twists and turns that kept it interesting.

It was a good book, but there was a detail they put in this book, that doesn't match a detail from the 1st book in the series. So it's been bugging me. Narrator is good, though I'm not thrilled about some of the voices she uses. But I've heard worse. (Everyone prefers there own voices they use when reading to themselves, yeah?)

I usually don't listen to the wolf books but this whole series is absolutely great! The narrator is one of the best ever as she can do so many different voices. She also puts so much heart into the narrating that you feel like your right there inside the book with the characters. I'm waiting for book three to come out about naya james and Her future mate

Another phenomenal book! The narrator does an amazing job with the different character voices. Action, love story, suspense, even tearjerking parts. Definitely worth downloading! Dannika has an unique take on the shifter world which develops some really strong characters. On to the next one!

Omg the screeching of this narrator and the stupid voice used for April is grating. Also the character April makes very dumb decisions over and over and over. I’m not even done with this but may have to read the books for the rest of the series rather than listen.

So the main character infuriated me in a lot of situations she was placed in. I wanted to stop listening halfway through but when I start something I have to finish. Overall the story was good but the narrator does a great job with her voices and although I hated her choice for the main characters voice. She is talented.

It was a okay book . I didn’t care for the narrator for this book .

The book was ok, I didn’t love the main characters monologue. There were a lot of cringe words used often as descriptors like “badass” through the entire book. The first one was better, the second is ok. I’m going to give the third one a shot. I can see improvements in the author’s style between the two books so far.

Another one out of the ballpark for Ms. Dark and Ms. Poole.

Definitely my least favorite so far of the seven series. The character of April it’s so easily taken advantage of and seems to have a weak personality. She just accepts everything told to her without standing up for herself. The voice The narrator uses for April is also by far not a favorite. She just comes off as such a sad and weak person. I liked the rest of the story though, and it wasn’t easily predictable. The story kept things moving and interesting.

I really enjoyed this book. Great storyline. The main character sounds a bit like Poppy, but the narrator was still great.

After listening to book 1 it sparked my interested and book 2 in this series delivers just as well. Great story with good characters, steamy hot sex and important pack rules to live by. The narration fits the characters!

This book is a wonderful follow up to Seven Years. It is a spin off of a character in Seven years and I a willing to bet that's how this series goes, so I am excited for book 3. The narrator does a great job of capturing THIS character's attitude and voice. She also portrays the other characters very well. Great read!

April is the absolute worst. She’s whiney, idiotic and immature. It was a torture to be inside her head. The self pity was incessant.

April was so annoying. The book is good but her character made me want to skip her parts, since I didn’t know where to skip I listened to the whole thing. She just seemed beyond weak and hard headed.

This series started off pretty good. Lexi was at least strong. April however was horrible. While not saying anything out loud, ALL she did internally was whine and cry. It was hard to empathize with someone who when given a choice ALWAYS chose wrong. I sincerely hope the next one is better because I really did love the Mageri series.

Main character, April, is painted as a total loser and I found her loser-ish ways far from desirable so this book was a bit far fetched for me. The voice for April was also annoying. Not sure if author is native to Texas but she misrepresented the food here- for example: stating how a brisket was made in the oven with the timing akin to a pot roast. Maybe just poor research? Hoping the subsequent books have more steamy scenes!
