Unabridged Audiobook
I had already read those who wait, forever and a day and midnight rain so I really enjoyed this continuation of the same universe. I had hoped for a little more of Sutton and Charlotte in it but I still loved it regardless. The slow burn was perfectly timed to keep you on edge but not lose interest. This story really gave me a new perspective of Regan and I went from finding her a bit annoying at times in previous books to really understanding her and loving her character which I think was exactly the point. I found the narration good throughout for the main characters but as with the previous ones in the series, I found the voices put on during certain times such as several intimate scenes a little difficult to listen to but it didn’t really take away from the scenes
Haley Cass does not disappoint. I love that Cass brings characters we know and love and develops them in a way that makes 600 pages feel like half that, details aren't missed but they don't feel drawn out of unnecessary. I could have easily read another hundred pages. You can feel chemistry and anticipation jumping off the pages, feel the hesitation between Emma and Regan. The care and attention between the two of them feels like a hug, like a buoy on a calm lake. The pacing feels purposeful but I still wish there was just a little bit more so that we got more of their happy ending, but the slow burn was so so good.
