Abridged Audiobook
I enjoy Hunter's books and I enjoyed this one too just not as much. It was a bit thin on plot and on character development. The narrator tried to bring more depth to the characters but ended up being a distraction for me. This one is an afternoon on the beach read and not one to remember.
The story was somewhat engaging and because of mall events that have included active shooters, this could have been an extremely interesting book. The author’s use of language was often stilted or overly formal. For this type of story, dialogue and the descriptive text should reflect the language of the type of characters in the story. Otherwise, this was a pretty good book and I really wanted to know the ending- a measure of how well an author has done. The narrator, on the other hand, was not good. His narration did nothing to enhance the telling of the tale. He made me think that this book would be better read by a physical book or ebook.
I wondered what this story was all about and then came the idea of a game simulation in real life. I only read the abridged version so I feel a lot of the details and character development were missing. However, not bad for a freebie.
