Summary
Solomon Trebeck's heart broke the night of his bi-awakening.

Fifteen years later, Sol's back in Cornwall where it happened, single, shy, and oh-so lonely. Teaching art to kids wasn't his life plan. Neither is raising a teenage nephew, but with no family left to support him, a live-in job at a boarding school becomes his life raft.

Problem: that life raft is sinking.

Solution: Sol's first love could have the cash to keep it afloat.

Reconnecting with Jace Pascoe might save the school-the one place Sol's nephew is happy. Asking for his help opens old wounds, but Jace helps to heal them, fusing Sol's broken heart back together. However, Jace has his own shadows, no matter how brightly his smile dazzles.

Falling for Jace again could be so easy. It could also be a huge risk when neither of them plans to stay in Cornwall forever . . .

Contains mature themes.

MM, Hurt Comfort, Second Chance, Contemporary, Romance. A great listen with a great light angst, steamy, tearbreaking second chance steamy love story with great characters. Enjoyable as a standalone or as part of the series with a well deserved guaranteed HEA.

I almost forgot just how much I like Sol. Honestly, the entire Learning to Love series holds a special place in my heart and is one I’m happy to revisit whenever, but there’s something extra special about this title in particular. Second chance romances have that spark that really draws me to them. I love seeing characters reconnect, grow, and achieve their happily-ever-after. Sol masters all those components, capturing such emotion and longing between Sol and Jace. I always enjoy when the physical chemistry is matched by the emotional chemistry, and this is something Con Riley excels at in general, but it really struck me again while listening to Sol. The intimate scenes felt like an extension of the story, sort a way to solidify Jace and Sol’s connection rather than gratuitous or simply there for the steam factor. This was only furthered by the talented narration. The narrator’s tone and tempo perfectly matched the emotion of each scene to deliver a really good performance that made for an easy and enjoyable listen. The first time around, I loved every minute of Sol, and I fell in love a little bit more when listening to the audiobook making this an easy recommendation to anyone who likes contemporary romances with thoughtful, well-developed characters and plotlines.

I adored everything about this audiobook! Con always delivers on beautiful prose and Cornell Collin’s absolutely was the right choice to bring those characters to life. I feel like I was transported to Cornwall and that the characters were real people I could meet. I stated in my original review that this story is emotional, gritty, and real, and I stand by that and think each is even more amplified with Cornell’s narration!

I cannot gush enough about this as an audiobook. Not only is narrator Cornell Collins incredible, but the story is also exquisite. Together they make an absolutely perfect book-on-tape (as I still call them, haha). If I had to pick my favourite audiobook, this would be it. I was already on a mission to read everything Con Riley has ever written, now I’m adding listening to everything Cornell Collins has done to that list. The Learning to Love series is one of those must-read ones. Each one is patient and kind, and a little bit heartbreaking. And they all have heartwarming connections and happy endings that soothe your soul. Sol fits perfectly into the community of people who want to make the world (through the school) a little better. He’s a bit lost and heartbroken. Recently having taken guardianship of his nephew when his mother passed away. Losing his boyfriend as a repercussion. He took a job as an art teacher to provide for his nephew. But he’s not sure he belongs. Until the man he fell for as a teen comes back into his life, grounding him in a way he didn’t realize he hadn’t been. The connection Sol and Jace have is deep in the fibre of their being. It’s impossible not to wrap yourself up in their story and want to read it over and over (or in this case listen to it).
