Unabridged Audiobook
I like the narrators (full cast); however, the book is a retelling of the prior story with only minor changes in viewpoint. The dialogue is a near carbon copy of earlier books and stories were presented in 3rd person in a weird way. The topic of the book was Cas caring for Poppy in stasis and telling her stories about herself so she wouldn’t forget who she was. Instead of addressing Poppy directly with pronouns such as “you” or “us,” Cas talks about Poppy abstractly in the 3rd person as “she,” “maiden,” etc…. How were Cas’s stories supposed to help Poppy remember herself when Cas didn’t directly address her? If a husband was telling a wife stories about herself, wouldn’t the husband address the wife as “you” rather than “she”? The book could be so much better with strong editing, especially if it actually presented something new.
I agree with the other commenter. The retelling in Cass’ view was unnecessary. Only a FEW things were added in this book verses Poppy’s narration. I actually had to poause my book at one point and check to see if I was relistening to the the other book! The cast was amazing, as usual.
