Sounds Like Me: My Life (So Far) in Song

Unabridged Audiobook

Written By: Sara Bareilles

Narrated By: Sara Bareilles

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

Date: October 2015

Duration: 3 hours 52 minutes

Summary:

Sara Bareilles shot to fame in 2007 with her single 'Love Song,' but her journal as a songwriter started long before. In this candid book of essays, Sara pulls back the curtain to let us see the songwriting process, and all the struggle and joy inherent in creating great work while staying true to yourself.

Written in the stripped down and confessional style of her songs, Sara's book will reward fans and singer-songwriters alike with the stories behind her most popular songs and insights into finding a balancing between making art for herself and popular music for her listeners. Sara's book is more that just a privileged view inside the experience of a remarkable musical talent - it's a moving tribute to the universal search for growth, healing and self-acceptance.

I'm pretty sure even the non-Sara Bareilles fans would enjoy this. It's full of hope, and journey through bullying and heartbreak. She is honest, funny, and witty. There were parts that made me smile from cheek to cheek and cry my eyeballs out. Ahh it was pure bliss after completing the book.

Loved this book, especially the parts when she SINGS!! A great book. Really picks me up to know that everyone, even famous stars/singers, has struggles and that they can be overcome. Loved that she seemed so real and down to earth. If I could send her a hug in the mail I would! And the singing?! A true bonus!!
