This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice.

Toward the end of the Edo period, a seasoned investigator renowned for unraveling tales of ghosts and haunted mansions reluctantly recalls a case he had kept secret for many years—the mysterious Affair of Ofumi.

A samurai household becomes plagued by the apparition of a drenched woman, and unsettling whispers begin to spread. The lady of the house, Omichi, is overcome with terror, while her young daughter Oharu cries out in the night that “Ofumi has come.” Yet the master of the house dismisses all talk of spirits, leaving the women to face the haunting alone.

As rumors of the ghost spread through the neighborhood, a quiet investigation begins. Fortune-tellers, nearby residents, and retired retainers all become entangled in the search for the truth behind the ghost of Ofumi.

A masterful blend of Meiji-era mystery and eerie supernatural storytelling, The Ghost of Ofumi combines detective fiction with the rich tradition of Japanese ghost lore, weaving a haunting tale of fear, secrets, and the restless dead.
