I really liked it! Could finish in a day!

I really enjoyed this book. The narrators voice was calm and soothing. It brought insight to the thoughts of a person with EOA.

I cried a lot, it was a very good one. The narrator/author has a unique voice different from a typical narrator but it becomes pretty natural and easy to listen to.

I really enjoyed the book, but the narration was terrible!! There was a lack of expression and inflection... it was flat. The cadence wasn't good either. And sometimes the tone she used when she delivered the lines was inappropriate. I have bought over 30 Audiobooks and I almost always marvel at the Readers. They read the book so much better than I could read it in my head. They heighten my enjoyment in so many ways. That was NOT the case with this book. They should have hired a professional reader. I don't understand why someone who is a GREAT writer thinks she is often a Great reader.

Not what I expected. more depressing than insightful.

The book is interesting, really. But the narrator was not great honestly. Boring and monotonous timbre of voice.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio book. Loved the narrator's soothing voice - very easy to listen to. Learning about EOD was very interesting but sad also. Very well written. Looking forward now to watching the film. I think Julianne Moore will be perfect for the role of Alice and I pictured her in my mind as I listened to the book.

Wow, this book is a must read for everyone. It gives amazing insight into Alzheimer's. I loved the simple narration. I felt like I was reading it, only I didn't have to use my eyes.

This was an absolute delight to read. The narrator did a great job at narrating the book and for giving life to the characters. I felt a sense of emotional committment- the character's pain was my own. Great read.

Brilliant book! I liked the way it straddled between the storyline and her thoughts. I particularly enjoyed the insight into her mind (and feelings). I quickly grew attached to her. And my heart hurt for her as her mental health declined. The author did a good job narrating. It felt pure and that was appropriate given the style of the book. Well done.

One of my favorite books and narrators. I actually listened to it twice. My father had Alzheimer's and it brought back memories although he became violent and so a very sad time for our whole family.

Very insightful book about the reality of EOAD. So grateful for the story. Loved the book as it was so real and heartfelt from every angle.

Very moving. I actually liked that the narration was not 'acted': I liked the simplicity, I liked that it was more like reading a book when you have to work out how people would have sounded, it allowed me to use my imagination too. I felt Alice's journey through the narration. The growing detachment is poignant. I am glad I have listened to the book instead of watching the film. It is difficult to say I enjoyed the book as it is a challenging subject but I did enjoy the balance between character, story and factual information and the insight into the effect of this condition on the sufferer. The speech was beautiful.

Great book. Very thought provoking. However, it lacked character recognition. The author read all of the characters similarly. There were conversations that were confusing at first, figuring out who said what.

Wonderfully written but lacking expression from the narration of the author. Eye opening story to a disease that I have no close relation to.

Great book!! Captivating and inspirational. Sad but uplifting

My father passed from complications of altztheimers just about a year ago-I wish I had known about this book before because it would have helped me understand the other side. He passed just 10 months after mom did. She hid so much from me and I was ill equipped to take care of him. Anyway it was a good book I'm glad I bought it

I especially appreciate the author's narration as who, but the author, would know the emotion behind the words written. This work of fiction is an eye-opener and a look into the appalling destruction that Alzheimer's brings to the individual as well as to the family and friends who knows the victim.

I differ from some reviews because I quite enjoyed the narration. It was read in a fashion that made the story, rather Alice's thoughts, very believable. It is an eye opener to this terrible disease and how it ravishes the brain, the information stored within the brain, and the effect on the entire family and cohort group. And in the end it's about feelings, especially the gentle imprint of love rather than the memory of loving.

While the content is good I could not get too far into the story due to the annoying narration. I was very disappointed and wish I'd read the reviews prior to wasting my money on the audiobook.

Ignore the reviews of the poor narration and LISTEN TO THIS STORY NOW. It will open your mind, break and warm your heart at the same time. I agree that The author's reading is lacking, but it didn't take away from this amazing story. The storytelling is wise and nuanced, with the main characters all being multi-faceted and interesting. Lisa Genova clearly understands the disease, as well as human nature. The book ended beautifully, better than I thought possible. I can't wait to see the film - I know the actors will do it justice.

I really wish the author would've opted for a professional narration. It is so 'blah' I had to force myself through the book. It's a shame as the storyline was good; I should've read it, not listened.
