Knowing Shari Botwin and her work as a trauma therapist, I would expect that she would produce a book that has it all. Read this book for its informative details about childhood trauma, as well as for the hope that swells as she walks us through the healing process of childhood abuse survivors. In addition, up- to.- date research- based therapeutic practices are explained so that any survivor is able to see themselves taking effective steps toward healing. Finally, there are vivid narratives describing her own and many of her clients’ struggles as they worked to attain healing, often a decades- long process. There is so much to be gained from this reading experience. Readers can achieve awareness of the intense impact of childhood trauma on survivors whose struggle is complex and deeply painful. Finally, readers come away feeling Shari’s empathy and wisdom because she has, indeed, walked the path. Thank you, Shari, for opening both your heart and wisdom to all of us in this beautiful book.
