Stonechild

Winner of the Gold Award 2025 from Literary Titan and a Silver Award in its genre in the BookFest Awards 2024.

What would you do if the statues of London came alive?

Fifteen-year-old Molly Hargreaves has always wanted to do something worthwhile with her life. She just never imagined that “something” would involve being chased, kidnapped and hunted by the statues of London.

It begins with a warning. Winston Churchill steps down from his plinth and announces that humanity is destroying the planet. Soon, statues across London are coming to life, talking to the public and offering their knowledge of history. Everyone seems fascinated. Everyone except Molly.

Something doesn't feel right.

Why do the statues know so much about her? Who are the mysterious Agalmata? Why is the enigmatic historian Geoffrey “Gee-Gee” Gray involved? And why does the statue of Sherlock Holmes secretly choose Molly to help uncover a terrifying truth?

With London descending into chaos and the statues preparing to take control, Molly and her brother Charlie find themselves caught in a dangerous race to discover what is really happening.

Because the fate of London may depend on a fifteen-year-old girl who simply refuses to believe what everyone else is being told.

A fast-moving YA adventure about courage, friendship, history, secrets — and discovering that sometimes the youngest person in the room is the one who sees the truth.

In winning the Gold Award from Literary Titan, they said this — 'Stonechild isn’t just a book—it’s an experience that lingers in the mind long after the final chapter is done, leaving one eager to explore the nuanced messages woven throughout its narrative.”
