Unabridged Audiobook
This book is a decent listen and I enjoyed the story for the most part. The story started off slow and there were times that the main character came off a little bit inmature and annoying (she is in high school though so it was in character with that age). The author did a great job with the narrating but there were multiple instances where you could tell she messed up a line and then went back and fixed it, but it wasn't edited out. This subtracted from the story at times and made it hard to refocus on what was going on. That being said is series is realitvely interesting and I will be listening to the next book in the series for sure. I was given this book without financial gain for my honest review.
I was entertained by this first story in the series. It started off a little slow, but it got better as I got to know the characters. I appreciated the diversity of characters and the references to mythological gods and goddesses. I felt for the family and their troubles. I was moved by Freya as she faced the turmoil and struggles in her life. I understood her desire to find a friend. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I applauded Melissa Gunn's narration as most of her performance was good; however, there were a few times when she faltered over the material and had to repeat a line or a phrase. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
