Unabridged Audiobook
Overall a positive experience. Noticeably derivative of Tolkien in many aspects, to the point that it can be distracting. A bit too much focus on sex for my personal taste. I enjoyed the characters and think they are the strongest point.
As usual Kay is an amazing author this book paints a picture of a vibrant world.
Kay stirs emotions and draws you into his world. You find commonality and sympathy with his characters and feel your soul entwine with theirs as they adventure. The narrator did a splendid job, mostly. Some of his voices were more annoying than they needed to be. The one biggest oddity(shall we say) is his choice of accents for the Dalrei. I have read the trilogy several times and never did it occur to me to hear the Dalrei with Scottish accents. LOL!
I agree with most reviews that say characters were not developed enough. It was a good story that felt rushed in that regards. Great narration though.
Wonderful story and performance by the narrator. I wish more audiobooks had similar sound/music as part of the reading. Now on to book 2...
