The Sunday Scaries: Finding Peace and Purpose at Work While Following God

Have You Ever Experienced the “Sunday Scaries?”

Most Christians won’t spend their working years on a church staff. We’ll spend them in offices, job sites, classrooms, warehouses, hospitals, and boardrooms. And some of us will spend them at home—raising kids, managing the household, or doing other work that matters deeply, even if it isn’t recognized with a paycheck.

And that’s where the Sunday Scaries show up. They’re the dread that creeps in on Sunday evening when Monday starts looming. They’re often fueled by two tensions we carry:

- The reality is that we’re not working our dream job, but doing what we need to do to provide for our family.
- The reality is that we’re often doing that work in secular environments, trying to keep Jesus at the center in places that don’t always support it.

In The Sunday Scaries, John Englehart Jr. offers an honest, hope-filled guide for finding peace and purpose while following God at work. With humor, real stories, and a Scripture-rooted framework to guide you, he helps you name what you’re feeling, and walk into Monday with steadiness instead of dread.
