Unabridged Audiobook
The Surrogate Mother is an intriguing thriller that grabbed my attention from the very first sentence. Freida McFadden does not disappoint, this was my second book by her and she immediately became my new favorite author after reading Ward D by her! “In the next twenty-four hours, I will be arrested for first-degree murder.” Abby and Sam can’t have a baby of their own and they waited years to adopt but when the perfect adoption is setup. They were so close to getting the infant they wanted so badly but the mother changes her mind unexpectedly about the adoption in the last minute… Such an incredible story and amazing pacing I laughed out loud sometimes while listening to this book, it was such an enjoyable read. I really loved it, unfortunately I figured out all the plot twists in it but it didn’t deter my enjoyment. I highly recommend reading this amazing book, it definitely is worth it!
Ugh. Big disappointment. I became a fan through the housemaid series and recently really enjoyed the crash but this was painful to finish, lol. From the beginning it was very predictable, usually there’s more twist and turns in her stories so I was definitely underwhelmed. The main character is in fact annoying. It just was not a good read I only finished it because I can’t get my credit back.
Couldn’t stop reading this one!
There were some few slow parts, but ultimately I got through and enjoyed the book!
all character pretty annoying, but good to listen to when without paying too much attention
Sam irritated me so much in this read. I wish Abby would have fought for her character and been harder on Sam in the end. I found myself giving Sam & Monica my 2 cents out loud quite a few times lol
This book wasn’t one of my favorites of hers. It was very predictable and the ending that are usually twists was weak and disappointing.
Pretty standard thriller, not great bit not bad. Enjoyable listen.
It was worth reading
Really good listen.
Started off a little slow for me , but wow ! Intense and a great story Kept me listening and wondering
Enjoyable quick read.
I liked the book. It was a quick read for me. was a tad Freida predictable.
Best book! I enjoyed it more than her Housewives series!
Couldn't stop listening. Absolutely brilliant
I loved the build up story line, others may think it's a slow burn. This book needed the slow burn to build charisma to the characters. This author does wonders with the plot twists that made my jaw drop!
Good book
Predictable.
I love this author, but I am growing so tired of books with reasonable and intelligent female characters that are perceived as ‘hysterical’ by the other characters. Enough already with storylines about women not being believed when they present perfectly plausible information and explanations for the things that are happening both to and around them! Surely we can do better.
Pretty interesting story, I was mad for what was happening to her the entire time lol.
Another good one from one of my favorite authors. If your a Freida fan you won’t be disappointed
solid listen
This main character was the most infuriating person. No normal person would have ended up in this ridiculous situation. This book is gaslighting everyone into thinking this is a perfectly reasonable way to handle anything that happened in this book.
A good start to the thriller setting the stage but ending was over the top and unbelievable.
Great book and the narrator was amazing!
Really enjoyed this read. Was a little surprised at the end. Freida McFadden doesn’t disappoint.
Nice easy read
Loved the story, but the voice was so soft, she could put you to sleep.
The story was ok. Predictable. The dialogue was amateurish in many cases. Often I felt I was reading I book intended for middle-early high school kids. The narrator also seemed amateurish. Middle school style.
Couldn’t stop reading great book
Great author&her books never disappoint! ALWAYS a great&book, but until the last few chapters or even the epilog, up until the very end, when u think you had it all right, then comes the BEST ENDINGS, ALWAYS SURPRISED! y
Loved it
Every time I read a book by Freida McFadden I think I know ‘who did it’. As usual she surprises me again!
This was too predictable and I felt very frustrated with the main characters.
This audiobook will absolutely keep you guessing from start to finish. I couldn’t stop listening—every twist turned everything on its head. Just when you think you know what’s going on, the story shifts and leaves you questioning everything. It plays with your mind in the best way, and by the end, you’ll be wondering who you can really trust. A must-read for fans of gripping, unpredictable thrillers!
Slow start but once the twist hits, a captivating listen.
Another thrilling read from Frieda!
Not as good as normal for this author but a good read nonetheless
I normally love many books by Ms Freida, I didn’t really do much research before deciding to dive in this book. I have to say it was just so BLAH
This book had me stressed out! I had to put it down multiple times because I was so frustrated—I seriously felt like screaming. But of course, I kept picking it back up because I had to know what happened next. It’s funny looking back at how worked up I got over it. The main character, though… wow. I don’t even have the words. She was unbelievably naive—so much so that it didn’t feel real. And the fact that she was a lawyer? If people like this exist in real life, I’m honestly a little scared for them!
This book brings you on a rollercoaster!
Great read!
Book was awesome! Really starting to like the author!
too predictable
Her ending always unpredictable although the author always scatter early on some subtle hints if you can catch them. Always enjoy her books. This narrator is the best so far for this author's books.
I enjoyed this book. It was well written; it holds your attention. I did not expect the ending! So Good!
Great twist!
I found this book to be a little predictable. The writing was good and the narration was well-done.
The book got off to a slow start, and then sort of drugged way to the end. It felt more like one of those naughty books. It would start at the beginning of the summer sitting out in the sun on a tough mystery. When the end came, everything just seem to tumble together without a great deal of suspense.
loved it.
A good suspense story. Parts of it made for "unstoppable" listening. The ending was unexpected
Interesting story with some good twists. The ending is a little foreseeable, but was still good.
This was a riveting read....had me edge
Wasn’t believable, stuck with it, but relieved to get to the end. Most books I’ve listened to have been very good. But this one didn’t do it for me. Nether did the narrator.
Very good it has you guessing what will happen next lots of twists
I have become a big fan of McFadden’s style of writing. Never a dull moment, and I can’t wait to listen again at work. So many twist and turns!
Amazing story line, lots of twist and turns. Can’t wait for the next one!!
The story builds really well and has enough twists and turns that you never get full comfortable that you know what’s going to happen next.
