Duration: 17 hours 22 minutes

The novel begins in the 1790s in the coastal town of Monkshaven. Sylvia Robson lives with her parents on a farm, and is loved by her rather dull Quaker cousin Philip. She, however, meets and falls in love with Charlie Kinraid, a sailor on a whaling vessel, and they become engaged, although few people know of the engagement. • Krista D

The book was good in itself but most of the narrorators were terrible. Some tried laying an accent on so thick you couldn't even understand what was being said. This took a lot away from the enjoyment of the story.

  • Marcia Russell

Good God, get a different narrator to start the book. I couldn't make it through the first chapter.
