Unabridged Audiobook
The narrators are wonderful! ESPECIALLY the male. Great story. Dialogue between characters is very well written..... has a natural flow. I think I have a new favorite author!
4 stars. "Tanner" by Samantha Skye is an age-gap, enemies-to-lovers neighbor romance full of simmering tension! I really liked the characters, Victoria and Tanner. Victoria is a strong FMC who wants to do things on her own terms. She is a city girl who has been thrust into a small-town life when her estranged aunt leaves her her farm. She just so happens to be looking for a new start in life after losing her job and finding out her boyfriend cheated on her. Tanner is accustomed to throwing money at problems, but when Victoria enters his life and refuses to give up her newly acquired farmhouse, he devises a scheme to acquire it. The longer they are in each other's presence, the more animosity brews between them... until the dam breaks loose and their very obvious obsession with one another becomes too great to ignore! As I said, I enjoyed this book quite a bit! The chemistry between Victoria and Tanner is excellent. She is trying to make the best of a bad situation, and he is a grump. He won't stop trying to get her farmhouse, and she keeps digging in her heels. It's the *delicious* opposites-attract tension that sells this one. I liked the side characters and the small-town vibes as well. The "twist" at the end is very, very obvious if you're paying attention enough. I loved the audiobook, narrated by Victoria Connolly and Sean Masters. They both bring these characters to life in a perfect way. They play off of one another well!
Very steamy and totally entertaining!!
This is a fantastic small town romance, my first Samantha Skye book, and consider me impressed, not only by her wonderful writing style but by the interesting characters and storylines she created. The characters are realistic and relatable and the story captivates your attention the entire time. Victoria was out shopping for her wedding dress, when she arrives home she finds her fiancé in their bed banging his colleague. Kudos to her for kicking them both out, him out of her apartment and her life. Soon after she loses her job, but timing is everything because she received a letter about an inheritance of an aunt she has not seen since she was a kid and one she does not remember. But her Aunt Marie remembered her, left her home and farm to her, so that is where she goes, get away from the city and reevaluate her life. Tanner, an owner of Whitemore Distillery, and the property next to Marie’s farm, they were on friendly terms and he always looked out for her. Under the impression she had no family, he planned to buy the property and expand on it. So it took me by surprise when her niece from New York showed up and their first meeting did not go over very well. Tanner had his heart set on that property and Victoria had her heart set on renovating it, putting her skills and love for designing to use. It was great watching these two bicker with one another, and despite of their age difference, the chemistry between them was electric. Watching Victoria get accustomed to farm life was fun to watch, too, but she settled nicely in to small town living. There is never a dull moment in this book, and besides the romance storyline, there is some suspense, and the author keeps you thinking and on your toes, trying to figure out who is behind it. I loved all the layers of the story and how it all plays out, with the perfect blend of drama, angst, a touch of charm and laugh out loud moments, some mystery and thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Samantha Skye, thank you for this wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride. ~ Sean Masters and Victoria Connolly were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life and did so with a perfect portrayal of each. I loved how owned their roles and how natural they were in each, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Connolly aced it as Victoria, grasping every aspect of her personality, including her strength and determination, and Masters was just as fabulous as Tanner, nailing it as the grumpy billionaire, before showing his caring and protective side. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two made a great team, with talent and voices that complemented each other and a performance that takes the already fantastic story to another level. They are entertaining storytellers and their performance keeps you riveted to the story.
Duet style narration by Sean Masters & Victoria Connolly Tanner is an all-around feel-good age-gap romance with a sexy single dad Tanner Whiteman. After leaving her cheating fiancé and losing her job Victoria heads to Whisper after she inherits a house with plans to refurbish it herself. But her billionaire neighbor, Tanner, had his own ideas for that property. From the first moment they meet sparks fly. But this is more of an adversaries-to-lovers rather than enemies. But don’t let that fool you. The tension is still high and palpable. Throw in some suspense with a stalker and Tanner’s overprotectiveness to care for his woman and this romance has all the goods. Shawn Masters narrates for Tanner and oh man… I swooned big time. He perfectly portrayed Tanner’s gruff business side with the intense feelings he can’t hide for Victoria. And Sean saying Baby Girl in that rough voice of his? Can I have that on repeat please? Victoria Connolly narrates Victoria. This is the second audio I listened of hers and I’m fast becoming a superfan. I love the slight huskiness to her voice and she has a wonderful range for the various characters. I have a soft spot for the silver fox male leads who never expect to find love. And when they do, they jump in with such dedication and hope. Maybe it’s their maturity of living more years on this planet with life experiences that they don’t want to waste another minute without the woman of their dreams. Tanner is all that and more. He is the quintessential Alpha Stern Brunch Daddy: contained in public but in the bedroom the man brings the erotic heat and the dirty talk. Tanner is the first book in a new series by Samantha Skye called The Billionaires of Whispers. And a super 5 star read/listen for me. I’ve already got book 2 on my audio TBR list.
I listened to the audiobook version of this story and I need my own Tanner!! That man was hot as heck, smooth as silk, and so sensual he had me melting into a puddle. The story itself was very good. Victoria and Tanner going from enemies to lovers was such a good slow burn, but once they gave into their attraction it was pure fire. The story itself was great as well. Seeing Victoria fall in love with a small town, the suspense and mystery surrounding Victoria and the house. It was all so good. The narration by Sean Masters and Victoria Connolly was spectacular. I swear Sean Masters could read me the dictionary and I’d melt. Great small town, age gap romance.
