From the jewel-bright valleys of India to the cold grey streets of Newcastle, can Clarissa build a new life?

1904 INDIA:

Beautiful, headstrong Clarissa Belhaven can only watch on as her widowed father sinks into debt and drink, bringing ruin to their idyllic tea plantation.

When he dies, she is forced to travel half a world away to England to stay with her only living relative, working in a pub in Newcastle. The grey skies and hardship are a cold shock to a girl raised in the lush Assam valleys, but Clarissa is as strong as she is lovely and resolves to build a new life for her younger sister and herself.

Her hard work is just starting to pay off when a figure from her past in India - a rival businessman - reappears with shocking revelations and turns her world upside down.

Should she risk everything to follow her heart?
