I was becoming frustrated while reading this book as I thought the main male character didn’t seem very smart I was just about to put this in my DNF file but then it took a turn and twist about half way through or more. I ended up staying up all night to finish the book. Bravo.

Ive read a handful of her books and every single one of them gives me whiplash with the post twist. I love it!

As always, another great novel from Freida McFadden!

Interesting story overall. My issue is with the protagonist, who seemed to be a bit one dimensional and quite frankly, just stupid. While her female characters all seem more complex, the males she includes in her story all feel stereotypical in one way or another. I suppose it's easy to criticize, so why not read it for yourself and be your own judge.

A fan of Freida but this is my least favorite. The main character comes across not the smartest yet constantly reminding every one of high powered position. There are aspects of jus relationship that are just cheesy but if you make it through the first six hours it ties together nicely with layers per usual.

I could not stop listening. It was very good. Twists and turns make you think different endings.

Fantastic book it was diabolical

The plot had a solid buildup; I have been in a reading block for a long time. Tenant mate, you did get me hooked. Obviously the main character was clearly, frankly, a dumbass, but hey, you did not meet me at 18. It's his story :), but decent work, Freido bestie. Enjoyable read.

The narration… for the whole book, the male was doing the whole narration and was « imitating » the females’ voices for the whole book… then at the end we hear the females’ voices separately… confused

The book was very well written and narrated with plenty of plot twists. I would highly recommend this book, especially to those who are new to the author Frieda Mcfadden.

Overall I found the plot to be interesting. Of course the main character made some questionable decisions that I feel like could’ve been written out in a better way. However, other than that I didn’t really expect the twist almost until it happened. The final plot twist was also unexpected for me. All in all I would recommend this book as a good listen.

Well there is a first for everything. This was my least favorite book of hers. Some things she didn’t go into enough depth and others too much. It really did not seem like she even wrote it. Still love her writing on all of her other books. I wish I had her skills.

There wasn't anything in the characters that made me care about them so everything that happened to them didn't hit home. Blake whines and whines and whines and whines until I gave up halfway.

The main character is so irritating and the plot line convoluted. A pet goldfish in prep for having a child and laundry detergent allergy? This book feels like a spoof and not one of McFadden’s best.

Good listen. The twists just kept coming. At first I was getting a little disappointed because it was staring to sound like a remake of "Pacific Heights". But then, it took a different direction, so I was glad about that. it was worth a listen.

For anyone who has ever survived a roommate from hell this book will be triggering. Having said that I can’t say that I was not ready to give up many times during part 1, the main character felt so whiny , annoying, and clueless. But part 2 was so good and the very end so surprising that it was all worth it. I encourage you to get this title and brace yourself for a big surprise ! The narrators do a great job of capturing the characters .

The plot twist that Amanda stole the identity of Whitney Cross, which originally belonged to Krista is what gave this book 4 stars for me. I felt that the suspense was dragged along too far. In each of the characters were equally annoying.

I absolutely Freida! But this one was quite predictable. Figured out within the 1st couple chapters. And if there were multiple actors reading the parts, why not just do that through the book? When most male readers do a female character, it's just bad.. and this guy was unnerving.

The first audio book I’ve listen to, loved it.

This was a great story! but a very frustrating read! The main character is ridiculous and dumb. He should have followed his instincts. I am a huge fan of Frieda Mcfadden’s books as I am about 6 deep but this was just disappointing me. However, the epilogue definitely made up for it, but still could have been a little better…I stand behind my rating because her creativity is amazing. I already pre-ordered her next book.

I gave up after a few chapters. The general drift of the story is clear by then, as is the helplessness of the protagonist. Following his helpless flailing becomes tiresome, rather unbrlievable, and deptessing. A solid 'no' here.

Similar to some of the other reviews the protagonist was really getting on my nerves (it seems that was intentional). But, it ended up being tying together really perfectly at the end so definitely worth a listen/read.

Freida thrillers are my go-to listen during my work day. Always well written and easy to listen to while multitasking. This wasn't my favorite of her books that I've read so far, but she never fails at surprising me!

I stopped listening to the book. Frieda McFadden is well know for her books - in this book I got frustrated and starting to get annoyed. Not a feeling I like to have listening to a book. Maybe I should have been sitting true and the feeling would go away... but I haven't made it that far....for now. So find out for yourself, everyone is different.

A very good story that kept my attention

I ‘m sure the book was a 5; however, most of the books that I’ve been listening to have been different and I’ve become more accustomed to them. This was my first Freda book! Previously , the crimes has been committed in the beginning and may happen throughout the book but the story is more about the solving of the crime(s). In this one, the reader knows that something bad is going to happens but the really bad actions are at the ending. It definitely builds the suspense, but it actually made me nervous, waiting for the ball to drop. That is why I gave it a lower rating

I never thought i would like this book as much as i did When he got fired for some reason my first thought was that the girlfriend did it but along the way i forgot that idea but then when the plot twist happened i was shocked that she wasn’t who she said she was and even more shocked about the cheating i was definitely not expecting that It was good and the plot twist kinda got me

I found the actions of Blake portrayed him as stupid which did not jive with his prior position as VP or the education he received.

I enjoyed the twist and many turns of this book.

I used a free credit for this and it was still a waste of money… the male protagonist spends honestly most of his time trying not to get hard around just any woman he comes across, the descriptors are just basic clothes and looks, the concepts are recycled with the Housemaid, and the narrator’s female voices are uncomfortable at best. Don’t do it.

Like many of the reviews I’m a new fan of hers but was frustrated by the repetitive behavior during the first two thirds of the book and told my wife I hope it gets a lot better in the last third and boy did it ever. Such a strong ending I couldn’t stop listening. Saved the book for me! Had no clue to the outcome(s).

The narration was great which is super important to enjoying an Audiobook. The other reviewers were correct. The book is a bit hard to listen to and I thought about stopping. I’m glad I didn’t because the plot twisted in an unexpected way that made it worth sticking with it. This is a suggested read for anyone looking to be surprised on the outcome.

I really liked to story and the plot. It was very frustrating listeing to the main character, cause i feel like a lot of it could have been avoided with some communication or logical thinking. However - I did not see the plot twist coming so that was a nice surprise!

Interesting twist.

Most of the characters are exaggerated and one dimensional. This really took me out of the story and reminded me I was reading a book, if that makes sense, and the voice acting only contributed to that sense of exaggeration. Lots of traditional gender roles and mildly sexist stereotypes for both men and women. The dynamics between characters felt predictable and old fashioned, particularly between the main male protagonist and his wife. Surprisingly slow paced for a relatively short novel, bored the heck out of me and I stopped halfway through.

Another Frieda twist I liked it

It read like a cheap, shitty B rated movie. There were inconsistencies in how characters behaved, especially once you knew their true MO and looked back on their previous behaviors. The decisions made by characters made very little sense when simple questions and answers could have solved the majority of problems....no one behaved realistically unless you live in high school. It was silly and immature, and felt like it. You literally have to suspend your disbelief to remotely accept this title. The only reason I finished it is because I spent a credit on it and I fell asleep listening to it for a few nights. I've never written a book in my life and could write something equivalent, seriously, that's not a good indicator of quality.
