We enjoyed this piece of escapist retro school story. If you've ever been to a 1940s boarding school, this let's you in on the fun and frolics involved. The story revolves around prize lettuces and the threat of slugs. I loved the pupil run council meetings with their judgements, punishments and rewards. It is genuinely another world, which has never existed, apart from in the idealised imagination of Enid Blyton. Still, it's all the more fun for that.
