Summary
The National Book Award finalist puts a human face on the AIDS crisis in Africa with this account of an Ethiopian widow who welcomed over sixty AIDS orphaned children into her home, caring for them and helping to place them with new families.

A powerful and ongoing story of hope in the face of despair, it is at its heart simply about children and parents, wherever they may be and however they may find each other.

To say that I loved this book would be a gross understatement. This book tuggs on your heart strings, educates, provokes to action, and opens your eyes to a completely different, but very real, world of the African HIV/AIDS orphan crisis. This should be a required reading for all humankind. Written with great clarity, this book will change your life. It did mine.

I really like this book. Melissa Fay Greene did an excellent research about Aids in the world. The situation of the kids in Ethiopia it was sad. We all know that we should help humanity bud some of us chose to look the other way. I admire people like Bereft, and the people that adopted the kids, are my real heroes.
