Unabridged Audiobook
I know the author acknowledges how this book was inspired by the Idaho murders so that's made clear but it still feels kind of cringy to capitalize on a story where the trial hasn't happened yet (it's scheduled for August 2025). One year after the case concluded, Jane Sharp is writing a book that will serve as a confession about her part as a “True Crime” armchair detective who got involved in a case which captured the attention of an entire nation. Jane has found her "found family" in what is essentially a true crime reddit forum where she joins a secret, smaller group of five who end of gaining notoriety after solving a case in Florida. Jane and her friends are allowed to "consult" on this new case. I'll admit, the crime perspective is compelling and I enjoyed the way Jane's grief over suddenly losing her father and finding the drive to find justice for those who may be overlooked. My biggest issue was that this book was about 100 pages too long. The narrator though, truly great and captivating and I'd seek them out again on other audiobooks.
