'This might sound crazy, but . . .' is a first-person memoir of my bipolar I mania-induced psychotic episode during the fall of 2019. I was severely debilitated for a 6 week period, yet for a brief window of time afterward, I was able to remember and recount much of my experiences. At heart, this book is a persevering hero's journey of an empirical scientist who is thrown into the depths of religious, science fiction, and bizarre delusions. Since most people will, fortunately, never know this struggle, the overarching goal of this book is to showcase what it can be like to experience psychosis to a broad audience.


Have you ever used telepathy to brainwash the entire planet? Do you know what it's like to barter people’s souls away to the Devil? Were you the one who created and then resolved the recent apocalypse as the Dark Messiah? And did you partner with Bill Gates to achieve global domination through time travel, advanced technology and mind control? Well, I have in my vivid delusions and these are some of the experiences I share with the reader. It is often shocking and disturbing, yet it's also quite funny and hard to put down.
