Unabridged Audiobook
I love the hearing all of the history and family struggles interwoven into the authors life . She has a remarkable memory and shares many of her life experiences
A heartwarming, unflinching memoir with family roots in WW I and WW II experiences, to Mid-late 20th century England and going through current decade California. The narrator is perfectly convincing as the person who lived through the written experiences and insights.
The book is fabulous. I’ve been a fan of Winspear’s Maisie Dobbs fiction for years, but this is even better. If her fiction is a 4-4.5/5, this memoir is a perfect 5/5. Thank you for writing this memoir. The real people in this story are complex, painful, and inspiring.
I really enjoyed the book and the narrator.
Wonderful story. Took me back to my own childhood. Well narrated. Will look out for more of her stories.
This was a different type of biography. It was more just stories or memories throughout her life and they were NOT chronological. It caused problems for me at first but I managed to catch on. I normally do not like books narrated by the author ( however; Jackie was wonderful as the narrator! Enjoyed the book very much!
The narrator/writer has a beautiful voice and speaks with such natural expressiveness and cadence that it feels she's sharing stories with a small group of friends, instead of reading from the page. I look forward now to hearing more of her work in her Maisie Dobbs mystery series.
