Kira Navárez dreamed of life on new worlds.

Now she's awakened a nightmare.

During a routine survey mission on an uncolonized planet, Kira finds an alien relic. At first she's delighted, but elation turns to terror when the ancient dust around her begins to move.

As war erupts among the stars, Kira is launched into a galaxy-spanning odyssey of discovery and transformation. First contact isn't at all what she imagined, and events push her to the very limits of what it means to be human.

While Kira faces her own horrors, Earth and its colonies stand upon the brink of annihilation. Now, Kira might be humanity's greatest and final hope . . .

Amazing! Great book. Not as good as Eragon but it is close!

I loved the Inheritance Cycle books. I loved this one bar the swearing. I’m not a prude, but I felt the swearing was excessive. I was a bit disappointed in the author.

Narrator did a great job, but overall the story was just meh. I really liked the beginning. There was some action in some parts, and while I don't always need action. I just found a lot of the characters not interesting.

There are absolutely worst books out there in the world, but this is as uninteresting a book as I've ever finished? It's like such a perfect C minus that you hate it all the more for what it lacks than something that you wouldn't have bothered to pick up in the first place.

Good space romp

I LOVED the Inheritance Cycle and while I understand Christopher Paolini was writing a ‘space opera’ which I enjoyed thoroughly at times I was overwhelmed with the fighting. It’s just not what interests me. Typically I won’t read sci-fi or fantasy based on wars and a lot of fighting but I wanted to read this book. Glad I did. The swearing was way over the top, and frankly not necessary. If Christopher does a hybrid between Inheritance and To Sleep … hmmm that might be something!

I happen to be a very good fan of Christopher paolini. I read his first book and all of the following. his character development is freaking awesome. The intricacies of his stories is off the charts! I'm a huge fan.

This excellent space opera will appeal to fans of hard science fiction. It has similarities to the Culture novels of Iain M. Banks and The Mote in God's Eye by Pournelle and Niven. The novel has great worldbuilding, memorable characters, thrilling action, and good pacing. The narration is a delightful performance. One complaint: in the first appendix, the narrator pronounces some mathematics words incorrectly.

I couldn't get into the book at all. I have red prior books by author and loved them. this I did not finish, red 1/3 of story, just didn't flow at points.
