Unabridged Audiobook
It took this book a little while to get going, but Ron McLarty has created some great characters and great dialogue. The hero, a part-time actor and bartender, drifts along, half grown up, avoiding commitment. He returns to his home town after a dear childhood friend dies and is flooded with memories. The narrative moves back and forth between today and his childhood, and each enlightens the other. It is a love story, a mystery and a coming-of-age novel. Parts of it are laugh-out-loud funny, but there is also deep sadness and regret.
