Unabridged Audiobook
Two books into the Daniel Pitt series (and already starting the third), I have one big grumble: Anne Perry’s writing style drives me crazy. She has a character mull internally over a long, drawn out psychological problem, and then, a bit later, the same long, drawn out problem is repeated in excruciating detail in a dialogue between characters. And then it’s repeated again with another character in another scene. And maybe we hear the same argument repeated and explored for a fourth time… I find myself rolling my eyes from the repetition and tedium…. the author seriously needs an editor to chop out her redundant dialogue. Why do I return to her books? I do love the time period in which the Daniel Pitt series is set. But it’s probably because I find her underlying plot, the mystery of the crime itself, to be interesting, logical and worth following. I just wish her narrative style wasn’t so absurdly draining. The audio book narrator does his best with the material; he’s growing on me.
