Each Truth Trigger has a name, colour, and personality that match the emotion it represents. For example, Blaze is red and full of fire, showing up when Troy feels angry or out of control. Whisper is a soft grey and appears when Troy feels sad and wants to hide away. Echo is blue and anxious, often repeating worried thoughts over and over. Then there’s Spike, green and prickly, who shows up when Troy feels afraid or unsafe. As Troy gets to know each Truth Trigger, he realises that their purpose isn't to overwhelm him but rather to help him understand what’s really going on inside.

The turning point in the story comes when Troy meets Sol, a warm, yellow Truth Trigger that represents calm and confidence. With Sol’s help, Troy learns that he doesn’t need to silence or fight his other Truth Triggers. Instead, he can listen to them, learn from them, and find his way back to Sol by choosing helpful actions like breathing, talking to someone he trusts, or taking a moment to pause.

By the end of the book, Troy isn’t just managing his emotions, he’s leading the way for his classmates to explore their own. He even creates an Emotional Map in the classroom where everyone can meet their own Truth Triggers.
