Alex Hawke is a remake of James Bond. The ever present sex, and gorgeous women who are always willing to jump in Alex’ bed, or vice versa is ever present in this series. Yes, it is titillating, but there is no story without them. Tsar was entertaining, and a thriller in some respects, but was also more of the same improbably scenarios, with astounding, miraculous results. Norton Commando, what a motorcycle! The 1972 Norton Commando upgraded from 60 HP to 65, added and Isolastic Suspension, and for the time, was the fastest bike in its class; 1-60 in 5s. Slow today, but quick more than 50 years ago. In addition, the Norton was designed for racing. Unlike all other bikes, to shift to a higher gear, you pushed down, not pull up on the shifter. That made banging the gears as you were accelerating much quicker and positive. Of all the bikes I’ve ridden, I would say it was the most exhilarating. Thankfully, the crotch rockets didn’t exist when I was young. You do NOT drive a bike, and regardless of size or power, they are a bike. Bikes are ridden. The end was certainly foreseeable long before it came about John Shea, a remarkably talented reader, but I wish there were a way to contact him rather than offer corrections on this site. He reads so well, it makes me wonder if he pre-reads a book, or just goes for it, and still does an almost flawless job. His pronunciation of French, and other languages sounds amazing, but his Spanish is flawed, mispronouncing words that a 2nd week Spanish student wouldn’t make. For example, Isla Morada is not pronounced Is lah. The letter I in Spanish is called E, and sounds the same. Is in Isla Morada is pronounce Is with a hard s, not a z sound. A quick 15 second search of Salina, Kansa would have showed that Salina is pronounced “Suh LIE nuh”, not Sa LEE nuh.
