Unabridged Audiobook
This was a much lengthier and more composed work, by Piper. It is a quasi-allegorical tale, with respect to the 19th Century A.D. Sepoy uprising, in British India. Believe it or not, he does manage to pull it off, without being trite or patronising. The ensemble narration was slightly less accomplished, but only detracted from the story on a few occasions, usually by changes in pronunciation (between narrators), missteps in timing, and some random out of place intonations. Of the ensemble, Miss "Acacia Wood" would seem to be the most capable. She rendered her parts very nicely. I should like to hear her other work. Yes, she was that good. Well worth a listen.
If you like recitals of how to fight a war, this is your book. But besides the fact the war is on a distant planet with 4-armed lizards, there is nothing scifi about it.
