Unabridged Audiobook
Disappointing. I am a big fan of MLB and all the inner workings of MLB but this was not really about MLB it was all about Dale's life and Dale's disappointments and Dale's aspirations and etc... it was just all about Dale. I am all for being gay and hoped for more insight into being a gay umpire, but, alas, that too was lacking. The book was read by Dale who is not a professional reader and was obviously reading from a script with fake inflections. I found the whole thing tedious and monotonous and didn't really give me any real life feel for what it was like to be an umpire in the major leagues with interactions with other players etc it was just all about Dale. Yes, Dale was a great umpire and I admire his courage to write the book but .... the book was drudgery.... It was one of those books where you just hope that it will get better... and it doesn't..
Incredible stories from one of the best of the best umpires our game has ever seen!
