Summary
From the bestselling author of the Stone Barrington series comes a thriller following a former investigative journalist trying to escape his past by moving to a lakeside home in the North Georgia Mountains, only to discover the dark and evil secret hidden deep within the lake’s waters.

Nestled in the mountains of North Georgia, a tranquil lake hides a dark history. Built by a powerful and obsessive man at an unthinkable cost, the reservoir transformed an isolated town into a thriving community—but some crimes can never be drowned. When former investigative journalist John Howell arrives hoping to escape the wreckage of his career and write his next book, he instead uncovers a mystery that reaches deep into the town’s past.

As Howell becomes entangled in a bitter conflict between the town’s ruthless patriarch, the local sheriff, and a family shunned for generations, he joins forces with an ambitious young reporter determined to expose corruption. At the same time, he is drawn to a shy backwoods beauty burdened by her family’s tragic legacy. But when eerie visions and ghostly visits from a mysterious young girl begin invading his secluded cabin, Howell realizes the truth is more terrifying than he ever imagined.

Rich with Southern atmosphere, supernatural suspense, and unforgettable characters, Under the Lake is a gripping blend of mystery, Gothic horror, and psychological suspense from one of the genre’s master storytellers.

Was a bit dated and corny , a nice light read or listen on a long flight but not engrossing enough if you have a lawn to mow or actually anything else.to do Light and flimsy if you have nothing better to do .

This was one of those books that could have been a lot shorter. Unlike the other reviews I thought the ending was a bit crazy. I felt like the writer couldn’t decide what plot to go with so he went with multiple. I listened to the end so it was an ok book but got a bit to sensational in the end. The narrator was vary good.

Loved this book! The pacing was just right and the story was excellent. You are given hints here and there but the reveal at the end gives you a lot of satisfaction. The narrator spoke clearly and was easy to listen to. I highly recommend this book.
