I love it even more as an audiobook!
I first read Unholy just a little over a year ago and loved it. Now that I’ve listened to the audiobook, I love it even more. If you are new to this series, or to Morgan Brice’s books, don’t hesitate to jump in anywhere in a series. While I usually prefer reading series in order, that didn’t happen with Witchbane as I was a latecomer to her books. I never felt lost while reading/listening to this.
Kale Williams did another great job with the audiobook and it really held my attention even though I’d previously read the book. I think he has done a great job with this series overall; now I just need to make time to listen to books 1-3.
MMy Thoughts Confessions and Review
This has been the best and worst ride with Seth and Evan, as they hunt down the most diabolical witch hunter to date. Joining forces with a special team in Charleston, led by Cassidy Kincaid, cousin to Simon Kincaid from Morgan’s “Badlands Series,” the guys are in countdown mode because of an unbreakable curse set against them.
This story was filled with treacherous ups and downs for the cast and brilliantly told once again by Kale Williams. The dangerous ride begins on the first page and does not let up until the very end.
The most dark and exciting tale yet!
The Story: 5.00
Narrator Kale Williams gave a lava smooth performance. Hot billowy, undulating, and ropy. He has a beautiful voice and he uses it to create a calm almost soothing cadence. He does not color outside the lines. It felt like the build-up, confrontation and resolution happened in one tone. He would be able to sweep listeners up in an emotional maelstrom, by raising his voice and changing it up, then the drama and tension of a high angst scene would be felt, instead of heard.
The character development and the design of the storyline were amazingly done. This series is getting better with each book. The author managed to increase the hotness between the two main characters, by avoiding the boring step-by-step recipe of lovemaking by book 4. I loved how the two lovers could not touch each other and how they had to resort to practical solutions to release the steam. The authors’ creative characteristics of this paranormal world are refreshing. I would have liked a little longer resolution, it felt as if the story was chopped short. Otherwise, it was enjoyable and unpredictable.
I do recommend this audiobook
Couldn't put it down! From the first chapter, I was hooked and Seth and Evan were in trouble!
Following on from Flames and Ash, Seth and Evan are on the trail of the next witch disciple and meet up with Cassidy Kincaide and her whole crew. With a curse plaguing them Seth and Evan's fight is even more challenging. I was on the edge of my seat for most of this story with this being the smartest (& sickest) witch disciple yet. So much action and danger and Morgan does a great job of hooking us until the very end! I love this whole worth, found family and series, and can't wait for more!!!
Another new adventure with Seth and Evan!
I am absolutely loving this action packed, paranormal series so far.
The setting of the story is very well established and th character evolvement throughout the series is absolutely brilliant.
The author's writing style is interesting and I like how each installement in this series is like embarking on a brand new adventure
The audio delivery was flawless and smooth. Absolutely recommend listening to this in the series order for maximum enjoyment
Another great instalment
I am enjoying my time with the witch hunters Seth and Evan. Although Seth rescued Evan, they are becoming more equal partners, and this new adventure leaves them in quite a predicament. They’ve come to Charleston to stop the next ritual death, but are too late. But a witness has been left behind and they need to protect him.
Meanwhile, they’ve been cursed, and it appears that curse, if not broken, will wind up killing them. I love the dynamic between Seth and Evan, but I also liked that characters from other books were brought in to help solve the crimes. I’m especially liking Cassidy Kincaide - Simon’s beloved cousin.
Adventure abounds in this high-drama where the stakes couldn’t be more critical. I did wonder how it’d be resolved, but all worked out okay. And I need to mention Kale Williams. He does a great job narrating these books, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. There were twelve disciples, so although some interesting things happened, I wonder if there are more books to come. I certainly hope so.
Unholy is Book 5 in the Witchbane series. I love this wonderfully written series. In this book not only are Seth and Evan in Charleston hunting down witch disciples, they end up with a touch-me-not curse. They team up with Cassidy and her friends, from The Deadly Curiosities series (another amazing series). I really enjoyed this crossover story. It was great seeing them all working together. It's a race against time to break the curse while still doing their job. Definitely recommend!
Narrator Kale Williams does another amazing job in bringing these characters to life.
I have become so thoroughly invested in this series. This time around Seth and Evan are headed to Charleston, and after a very rough start get to meet up with a group of characters from another series by the author. I loved having this full-on infusion of characters into Seth and Evan’s storyline, primarily because they each bring their individual talents to the table and everyone works so well as a team.
Bringing in this set of characters doesn’t overshadow Seth and Evan’s story, it actually enhances it quite a bit. It definitely places the spotlight on found family, particularly for Evan, and if I hadn’t already added their books to my TBR, this story would have had me doing it now.
The stakes are even higher this time around with Seth and Evan encountering trouble almost from the very start of the story. There are new revelations regarding the “why” behind the witch disciple plans that will change everyone’s perspective. And to top it al off, the guys have an unusual problem getting in their way—literally—that does a number on them emotionally.
It’s another exciting hunt with new elements introduced to keep the series fresh, and I can’t stress enough how much I enjoyed having Cassidy, Rowan, Teague and the rest of the crew from the Deadly Curiosities series along with cameos from Badlands and Night Vigil series characters. Don’t worry, you don’t need to have read all these other series to understand what’s going on here in Unholy (though you should have read the prior Witchbane series books). Unholy was a 5-star book for me, and though Seth and Evan don’t get much physical time with each other this story is still meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.
The narration: Kale Williams continues to do an excellent job narrating this series with consistent character voices, even pacing and just the right amount of emotion. I wound up listening to this in a single sitting thanks to being so thoroughly pulled in to the story. 5 stars for the narration!
Seth and Evan are back in another Witchbane installment. This one gave my heart palpitations! They are headed to Charleston when they have an accident, and a warlock outs a curse on them. It’s a race against time in order to save Seth and Evan. I got to meet the Deadly Curiosities crew in this one. I loved how they all interacted with each other; the story flowed smoothly! This is a fantastic urban fantasy story!! It’s full of magic and witches, suspense, ghost and bad guys then this is the story for you! Well written with a ton of depth to the characters. Sooo freakin good!! Highly recommend!! Kale Williams did a fantastic job with the narrative! Each voice was distinct, clear and concise!
This is book five of the WitchBane series. I feel it’s best you read in order but I started with book 4 snd followed just fine, however it would have been good to have known how they came together. Having said that...this book follows in the series with Seth an Evan on the way to Charleston to stop an evil warlock. However they are too late and find the tables turned and have to rave against the clock to undo a curse put on them.
I love Seth and Evan and this book was full of more characters. Many more and I wanted to know all of their stories! The plot is interesting, the mystery is nail biting, lots of action and suspense.
I listened on audio and love the narration. The narrators voice is soothing and there is enough difference in characters to tell them apart. I highly recommend the narration if you can get them!
Now on to more books!
Seth and Evan have a whole new level of challenge here. Their opponent, Longstreet, first tries to kill them in a car wreck and when that fails, curses them with a spell that causes them extreme pain any time they touch skin to skin. The physical separation and consequent emotional drain is meant to weaken them. The curse also steadily drains their life to force them to confront Longstreet on his terms before they and their allies are ready. We feel their heartache as both men realize how much their casual, everyday touches ground them increasing their bond and their power. As they weaken they become more dependent on their allies and they have quite a team backing them including witches, mediums, vampires and hackers. Our two guys will never feel alone again in their fight and all the characters are interesting and powerful. We also learn in this book about the true nature of the disciples' powers and how they are recharged. The final showdown with Longstreet is made more emotional as Seth and Evan's bond is so weakened and the happy reunion after the curse is lifted leads to a very hot time. Looking forward to the next adventure in Cleveland. Although this book is part of a series, the author skillfully presents plenty of information about past events that it can be enjoyed even if you have not read others in the series. The information is presented naturally, not in large, info dumps and never derails the current story. Kale Williams does his usual superb job here
Evan and Seth another great addition to this series.
The saga continues.
More witches, more spells, additions to the group and more adventure.
Hot sex scenes, bring the romance to the story.
You can't beat Kale Williams voice, he does an outstanding job with the Narration.
Hopefully there are more spells and adventures to come.
Well worth your time to listen.
