Unabridged Audiobook
An excellent book written by an inspiring musical artist. When Carlos narrated the introduction himself in this audio book, it is a special treat and adds an intimate and personal touch to the book. His writing is heart-felt and honest. Jonathan Davis does a great job narrating the book. He has a special ability to speak in dialects, whether he is quoting Carlos' family and friends from Mexico, or street smart jazz musicians like Miles Davis with his distinctive raspy voice. In this book, Carlos traces his life's journey from the poor beginnings in rural Mexico, to learning his guitar chops in the rough strip clubs in Tijuana, and launching his fame in the hippy days of San Francisco. He speaks of the importance of relationships, and those "angels" who helped him along the way. Throughout the book, Carlos speaks of his spiritual growth. This is a very long audio book, but it never is boring. If your are a musician, or just a music lover, this is an essential book.
A top-notch book and thank you Carlos for composing it. Excellent narration and audio quality. Get enlightened to Santana and life, here and now.
This book was an awesome peek into history. The narrators voice was totally invested into the emotions that Santana was describing. I was happy to hear names that my father mentioned during his military time in San Francisco. It was beautiful and full of life and redemption. This story had to be told!!! Thanks Carlos Santana! I felt like I was there and frequently stopped to listen to the music you described so that I could feel what you felt the first time you heard those awesome musicians.
