Unabridged Audiobook
Kit/Kat gets a scholarship to a school nobody has heard of which she takes to get out of her present situation. Yet by doing so she pretends to be a guy (Kit), the school is nothing she expected.
The story was engaging and the world building was excellent. The author doesn't rush the story, like so many others do. The female narrator did a very good job of conveying emotions and bringing the main character alive.
Slow burn and very detail oriented. You get to hear all sides and it makes for an immersive experience. It's a little slow in the beginning but you need that background info to set the story.
I was gifted an audio version of this book from the author through Story Origin. It is presented in dual narration. The female tends to read Kat's chapters and the male reads the demons' chapters. I was very pleased with the female, Ada Sinclair. She read with clarity and expression. The male, Christian Black's voice was harder to understand. It's sexy, but didn't seem to fit the various shifter demons. Plus his voice was always quieter than Ada's and I had to turn up the volume for him. So I'm rating the narration 4 stars. It turns out this book is the first in a long series of books with the same characters at this university. So over 400 pages introducing the characters and story. I found it a little tedious and long without really giving me enough info to learn enough about the demons. It didn't really catch my interest enough to continue this lengthy series. I didn't find it very believable.
