Summary
On one of the city’s hottest nights, New York Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas is sent to Central Park—and into a hellish new investigation. The victim is found on the rocks, just above the still, dark water of The Lake in Central Park. Around her neck is a single red ribbon. Her hands are posed, as if in prayer. But it is the eyes—removed with such precision, as if done by the careful hand of a surgeon—that have Dallas most alarmed. As more bodies turn up, each with the same defining scars, Eve is frantic for answers. Against her instincts, she accepts help from a psychic who offers one vision after another—each with shockingly accurate details of the murders. And when partner and friend Peabody is badly injured after escaping an attack, the stakes are raised. Are the eyes a symbol? A twisted religious ritual? A souvenir? With help from her husband, Roarke, Dallas must uncover the killer’s motivation before another vision becomes another nightmare....

I absolutely love this book. I love seeing how the characters continue to grow and work with each other. I enjoy thinking about some things that might happen in the future both physically and with morality. The narrator ìs my favorite of all narrators.

The story in itself was good, but I just could not get past Dallas. I just disliked her character - which was tough to get past as she was central to the story. Very hard to feel any kind of sympathy for her when she was so obnoxious, arrogant, rude and insensitive. I wanted to enjoy the story, which in itself, has plenty of twists and turns to keep it interesting - but found this main character kept it abrasive and irritating for me, personally! This was my first book by this author, not sure if I want to read another ...

I really enjoyed the character of Eve Dallas. I think if you're a Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb fan you'll enjoy.

Man, what a yawn-o-rama. This snoozer seemed more like a high school term paper than a best seller. So what if the story was set in the future; Star Trek was set in the future and it was crummy too. Pox on those self-styled reviewers that convinced me to choose this time-waster. If I want a story set in the future, I'm gonna stick with the Jetsons--at least they only last 1/2 hour. Trust me, folks, save your selection for a good ol' Patterson, Grisham, or Kellerman. You can thank me later...gk

This is the first J.D. Robb book I've ever read. This book is every bit as good as the Nora Roberts books I have read and fascinating because it's set in the not so distant future. As with any series, some was lost due to the fact that I neglected to read the series in order, but not enough to detract from the enjoyment!

Another great JD Robb/Detective Eve Dallas story. This one had a bit of twist at the end which made for a nice surprise.

This book was slow starting but picked up about half way through. I enjoying hearing the story play out. I particularly enjoyed the unexpected twist at the end.

Not my favorite book. Dallas was an obnoxious, crude, rude ,female detective. I found her character resembled an uneducated male construction worker who oogles women as they pass the site. I know female cops, and detectives and none of them think like or act like Dallas, and I believe they would be insulted as women and as cops to be portrayed in this manner.

Nora Roberts does it again.. one of the best of the Eve and Roark adventures. Good pace great story keeps you interested and wanting more. Highly recommended series if you enjoy adventure, mystery, and a fast moving story...Sit back and enjoy the ride.

I have never reviewed a book. When I saw it in my rental history at 5 stars I had to respond briefly. The author likes coffee and proves "Women are from Venus" in her loves scenes. Other than that it was over dramatic and only proves women are superior to men and control the world around them. I thought boring.

Another treasure. I found myself trying to slow down and stretch this one out. I didn't want it to end, because there are no more J.D. Robb's that I haven't read. I want to be Eve Dallas when I grow up. Or maybe Mavis...

Writer sucks you in and keeps you very interested. As characters are introduced, you want to know more about them. Story line is a vehicle to the characters and their personal tragedies and triumphs. I found myself wanting to continue and actually was anxious for my next trip in order to listen on.

I have read many of the other "In Death" books. In this book the characters are really beginning to grow and evolve. I like the J.D. Robb books and the narrator Susan Ericksen does a great job of making each character's voice distinct and recognizable.
