I just finished this, and I am speechless, and a little confused. But wow, was it good. I could not walk away until I was done. I need to listen to this one again. Sometimes it’s hard with an audiobook, to not miss something crucial, and I think I need to listen again. And it was so good, I will. Looking forward to this series of stories.

Karen hit another home run on this book. It had great character development with a building story and plot twist with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing and surprised.

What a story!! It all gets pieced together by the end leaving you wanting to go back to the beginning to re-listen so that you can pick up on the subtle clues all over again once you find out the truth. Then you’re like yup there it is the lies, and secrets you may have missed that make this book an unstoppable listen.

A lengthy story with lots of police procedural information which I found interesting. The actual story/mystery was well written and kept my interest throughout re: characters and plot twists. Definitely some hard things to listen to regarding sex trafficking and abuse of young teenager girls - other than that I highly recommend this book

Excellent, great story and narrator combination

The book was so good. The title reflects many different aspects of the story. The narrator did a great job trying to use her voice for different characters, but sometimes they blended and she read fast that would rewind. It did not affect the enjoyment of the book.

This book is absolutely amazing! Loved the mystery to the murders and loved the narrator. Karin Slaughter has done it again!

At first I wasn’t to interested which is unusual as I love this author. By the time it was a good quarter in I was hooked! Well written plot and love this book!

I enjoy all of Karin Slaughter's books, and this one is no exception. This one has lots of little plot twists (and a few big ones) as usual. Also, Kathleen Early does a fantastic job narrating this book just as she has always done. I am already excited for the next one! I know that if I see a title by this author, I'm in for a great read!

Truly one of my favorite books in a while. The story was amazing, and the twists were ‘scream at the characters’ worthy. This story had me engaged and waiting for the next moment the entire 16.5 hours. Worth your time!

Unpredictable. Well told Story

This book had a good storyline, but it just drugged on forever. There’s good twists and exciting turns when it finally gets to the information of unraveling who the suspect(s) is. It’s worth the listen.

Couldn’t get through it… waste of $. Too many characters.

This was a great story and I enjoyed most of how it was told. The author did a pretty good job of not preaching at us but occasionally I wished she would keep her biased opinions to herself. That's the only reason I gave the book four stars instead of five. It was a well written, interesting story with a few surprises. Some of the surprises were slightly predictable and some were not. I do believe there was one important unanswered question, but maybe I just missed that detail?

I LOVED this book! She is one of my favorite authors. The narrator is also a favorite. This audio book is 16 1/2 hours long and I listened to it twice. I believe this book is the start of a new series for her, but this book could have been two parts of that series. So many twists and turns, right up until the end. Her Grant County and Will Trent series are also favorites.

Amazing! The book is just so well done, and unpredictable. I listened to the last chapter three times to make sure I got every single twist and then immediately re-listened to the book knowing the ending. It was even better the second listen!

Very engaging, thought provoking and a real page turner. I’m now looking for more books written by this author.

Couldn’t put it down! While this is a difficult book to read because of the subject it was so well written and narrated. The twists at the end, there are multiple that left me with my mouth hanging open, just blew me away. Made me laugh and cry and everything in between.

Great book!

Good twists and turns as often found in Slaughter writing, keeps you going start to finish. Using Kathleen Early whose voice is so familiar with the Will Trent series, created a separation of characters a bit challenging. Awesome read by Early just too close to the Trent Series

Loved the novel...lots of twists and turns.

Narrators are both great! There are some tough chapters to get through without being a little triggering if you’ve ever dealt with child abuse in any way. Colleen sends you in one direction and then BAM your in shock from the twist. I loved listening!

Very depressing novel

Excited that Karin Slaughter has a new series! It started off with a bang. Loved the characters, look forward to the next book.
