Summary
She is the perfect wife.
He is the perfect liar.

Verity and Linden Lockwood vowed to spend the rest of their lives together, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do they part. Five years later they've kept their promise to never let their love die, to never slip into becoming one of those couples....

But a year after Linden is brutally and inexplicably murdered in their picture-perfect home, Verity's world shatters again. They're not the golden couple she thought they were. Linden betrayed her: he had been having an affair.

Determined to uncover the identity of the other woman, Verity delves into her husband's life. Everyone is a suspect: her neighbour, her best friend, her assistant... even her cousin. But as she unearths Linden's shocking secrets, Verity realises she didn't know her husband at all and the truth might be more dangerous than she realises.

Can Verity expose the other woman before she joins her husband in the morgue?

I’m normally good at figuring out plots and twists but this book had me guessing the whole time.

I hate psychological thrillers! Having said that I still hate them but this is well written and creatively plotted. The look back and look forward approach with the convergence at the finality was well done. I still was a bit dumbfounded at the end… probably another reason I’m not a psychological thriller aficionado. If you are you will enjoy this read

I had to listen to the last 20 minutes again to make sure I had understood the ending correctly because there was such a big twist!! Great book! The narrator had an English accent but, very easy to listen and understand!!

I think Dandy Smith may be my new favourite author. I read The Wrong Daughter last week and loved it and immediately bought The Wedding Vow! Wow! So many twists and turns!it had me gripped and guessing right to the end! Fabulous! Also, beautifully narrated!

Thrillers and mysteries have to have some coyness and hinting but this was heavyhanded and the ending, well, it could have ended a chapter earlier. Still, it was a good enough story that I stayed with it until the end. Good narration.

Kept me guessing and still surprised me at every turn

Ending went on and on and on. It felt like the author couldn't decide on the best twist so she included all of them. Liked the narrator but often couldn't remember which character was speaking of who they were speaking to - not sure if it was a problem with the narrator or the way the book was written.

Really good plot. While I guessed the perpetrator early, I doubted my choice right to the end.

Great. Kept me guessing and moved quickly. Thought I had it figured out a few times but great twists along the way

Loved this book. A real page turner, the characters were fleshed out well and the drama was intact until the end.

Compelling enough at the start then loses momentum

Profile Avatar Diana Jan 2026

A good story but somewhat difficult to follow who is the wife and who is the other woman … all is revealed at the end however

Profile Avatar Suzanne M. Jan 2026

Good narrator. Confusing book. Too many names, forward backward in times

I have several apologies to make, for the several times I unfairly judged a (or several) character/s. Had me guessing all the way

Very suspenseful thriller, but too long with the back and forth wife side, then the other women. After the murder of the husband, Verity's perfect marriage went straight to hell1, after discovering her hubby was having an affair. Had the police handled it from the beginning, I believe Verity made a mess of the investigation doing things her way. She involved women that really had nothing to do with the issue at all. I feel she acted on hunches and not facts. There were a lot of accusations which caused her loss of friendship. When in conclusion, it was her sister with the jealousy she carried from their childhood. TOO BUSY FOR ME!

This is one of the most enjoyable thrillers I’ve listened to in a while.

Profile Avatar Smileykat Nov 2025

I agree with other readers that it was very convoluted. I love this author’s other two books that I have listened to to the point that I searched out another one. It was an interesting story with a good twist at the end, but it didn’t grab me like the other books. The narrator was excellent. Although I could hear some swallowing intermittently, the narrator did an outstanding job.

Loved this book! Finished it in 2 days, it was that good. The narrator was perfect as well, with amazing expression that made it such an engaging and captivating listen!
