Summary
In nineteenth-century Vienna, a drama of love, fate, and will is played out amid the intellectual ferment that defined the era. Josef Breuer, one of the founding fathers of psychoanalysis, is at the height of his career. Friedrich Nietzsche, Europe’s greatest philosopher, is on the brink of suicidal despair, unable to find a cure for the headaches and other ailments that plague him.

When he agrees to treat Nietzsche with his experimental “talking cure,” Breuer never expects that he too will find solace in their sessions. Only through facing his own inner demons can the gifted healer begin to help his patient. In When Nietzsche Wept, Irvin Yalom blends fact and fiction, atmosphere and suspense to unfold an unforgettable story about the redemptive power of friendship.

Excellent Narrator to an Excellent book. I think every sapiens out there should read this. Would make all humans more insightful and take a deeper look within and think about how we can potentially evolve in harmony with our Planet or, sadly, destroy it.

Absolutely loved this book ... I’ve never read Nietzsche... and this book is the perfect induction seminar into his philosophy and his persona IMO ... when I read books like this my only regret is that I didn’t listen to my father when he urged me often in my youth to read !!! To learn form other people’s experiences and points of views . Never to late thou ... :)

One of my favorite authors and one of my favorite narrators all in one-book. Historical fiction about the invention of talk-therapy amongst Breuer, Freud, and NIetzche. Made long road trip very exciting!
