How can one find inspiration and joy in the midst of disillusion? In the fall of 2020, as the pandemic raged on and the world reeled with trauma and loss, writer Luca Mazzotti began to look for ways to replace his existential dread with a renewed zest for life. He decided to sit down and explore the random fragments of life he could depend on for emotional comfort and intellectual stimulation.

Combining introspection with investigation, recollections with analysis, and ideas with testimony, the end result was a compendium of 25 references, ideas, passions, and interests that offered him a canvas of reasons to feel alive, despite the circumstances. Unexpectedly, the project unleashed a small chain reaction as those who explored the book “followed the recipe” and made their own lists of the things that thrilled them.
