Summary
The funniest and most popular sportswriter in America abandons his desk at Sports Illustrated to caddy for some of the world’s most famous golfers—and some celebrity duffers—with hilarious results.

Who knows golfers best? Who’s with them every minute of every round, hears their muttering, knows whether they cheat? Their caddies, of course. So sportswriter Rick Reilly figured that he could learn a lot about the players and their games by caddying, even though he had absolutely no idea how to do it. Amazingly, some of the best golfers in the world—including Jack Nicklaus, David Duval, Tom Lehman, John Daly, Casey Martin, and Jill McGill—agreed to let Reilly carry their bags at actual PGA and LPGA Tour events. Reilly also caddied at the Masters, persuaded Deepak Chopra and Donald Trump to use him as a caddy, accompanied high-rolling golf hustlers in Las Vegas around the course, and carried the bag for a blind golfer.
Between his hilarious descriptions of his own ineptitude as a caddy and his insight into what makes the greats of golf so great, Reilly’s wicked wit and an expert’s eye provide readers with the next best thing to a great round of golf.

A fun "read." Highly recommended. Golf is funny...when you are not playing.

A very funny account of the love of the game and the individuals who make it great!

Haven't laughed that hard in a long time. I don't even know anything about golf; however, this made me see real people just trying to make it work with what God gave them.... "talent"~!

How disappointing. I'm a female golfer, and I also occassionally read Rick Reilly in SI. I thought I would really like this book, but I was so turned off that I only listened to 1 1/2 CDs before I returned it. I hate to sound so sexist, but this is a "guys" book, with "male" humor. I don't really think the size of John Daly's penis is really very funny or interesting. And listening to the tales of hangovers and partying just isn't very funny to me. Oh well, this one just wasn't for me, but I'm sure it will appeal to others out there.

Exceptionally funny and both well-written and read. Gave interesting insight into players and reflects the author's love of the game.

This was funny and enjoyable but a bit too long. i would have enjoyed it more if it was shorter. Too much of the same thing.

I play golf, and watch it occassionally on TV. This book isn't about golf. This book is about life, and even if you don't dig sports books, you might still get something out of this one. Rilley is GREAT, the narrator is GREAT. Very Good listen!

Funny. I don't even follow golf closely, and I enjoyed it. The next time I do see golf televised with any of the many players included in these stories, I may take more interest in seeing them win - or perhaps hoping certain ones lose. If you DO follow the game, you'll probably like this one.

Hmmm.... It's Ok. I think I laughed out loud once, maybe. Not that good for 5 hours of listening. I'm glad it was a rental and not a purchase.

If you love golf you gotta love this book. Rick Reilly is part caddy, part clown as he fumbles and bumbles looping for some golfing greats, not so greats, and real characters.

Hysterical! Rick Reilly, of Sports Illustrated fame, caddied for a variety of golfers over a two year period. The golfers ranged from Jack Nicklaus to Bob Newhart and some not so famous, but interesting nonetheless. Reilly is funny and occasionally poignant, but always entertaining. The reader is wonderful, adding appropriate accents...you haven't lived until you've heard Deepak Chopra swear!

I couldn't take more than 30 minutes of golf jargon. I sent it back before hearing the end of the first CD. It's probably great if you know what they're talking about...

This book is " laugh out loud" funny! It gives interesting insights into both golf and human nature. A must read for any golfer or Rick Reilly fan.

What a great listen. I laughed out loud as I drove down the highway. A truly insightful look at a rarely covered occupation. I am a new fan of Rick Reilly. His humour is unique and I am already searching out more of his writings.

I thought I was gonna like this book, but I was wrong--I loved it. I watch a lot of golf, and now I'll see my favorite golfers through enlightened eyes.
