The Widow of Doon Mountain: A 19th Century Irish Historical Romance

Caitriona Brady has spent years trapped between a loveless marriage, a ruthless mother-in-law, and a parish that remembers her dead husband more fondly than she ever could. When Bridget Brady finally dies, Caitriona believes she is free at last: free to keep her mountain cottage, work her own land, and decide the shape of her future.

But Doon Parish is not a place where the past loosens its grip easily. John Brady’s name still fuels the faction fights that scar the countryside, and every step Caitriona takes toward a new life becomes another excuse for men to raise their blackthorn sticks.

Michael Warner, the quiet brother of the parish priest, wants no part in the violence. He sees Caitriona not as a dangerous widow, but as a woman brave enough to survive a world determined to keep her grieving. Their love begins with tenderness, but soon demands courage neither of them expected.

Set against the rugged hills, holy wells, turf bogs, and parish tensions of nineteenth-century Ireland, The Widow of Doon Mountain is a passionate historical romance about loyalty, grief, forbidden hope, and the fierce right to begin again.
