Unabridged Audiobook
Nearly the entire story was told in flashback, nothing in flashback mode ever matters. (Same with stories set in make-believe land, digital worlds, dreamscapes etc.) so nearly the entire story doesn’t matter. Kaladin is now a pussy, all the gods (with 4 names each) are crybabies, and this book is about 13 hours too long. Are there really going to be 5 more books in this series? Someone better be honest with Sanderson and tell him how bad this book was so he’ll reconsider wasting his time on 5 more.
Keeping it SPOILER FREE. It kills me to give a Brandon Sanderson Novel less then 5* or the occasional 4* but im sorry this just calls for it. The only thing i can think of is that Sanderson is using the finale book #5 as the jumping off point to completely link all the worlds in the cosmere.. If its anything other then that then my 3* stands...... i was really bummed. The only character Arc that i really enjoyed was Adolin, it was almost like he got all of Kaladins page time, while Kal was playing Dr. Phil to the Upper crust of Roshar. Additionally, i feel with the length of this book, more should of happened, he could of probably shaved at least 400 pages and the book would of lost nothing, aside from a ton of minutia and most characters going nowhere for the 1st 500 pages of the book. These are characters that we followed for over a decade and loved!!!!! they all deserved a better finale. All that being said, These characters are Brandons babies to do with what he wants, its his story and world. While this is probably the 1st disapoitment for me reading sanderson, id say hes like pizza, even sub par pizza is still pizza at the end of the day and its awesome!!!!! ill read whatever he puts out, lol.
Came to the conclusion that I don’t like BS straight forward prose, it hardly has an immersive quality. This one was bloated and could have have bren edited down 500 pages. The comedy relief is as bad as the MCU, it just doesn’t hit and often even makes fun of its own jokes as being bad. I expected a lot more from this first arc and it just simply did not deliver. It was anti climactic in every conceivable way and found myself constantly bored and struggling to complete it. I think I’m done with BS.
I hate writing this review, but Wind and Truth was a real struggle for me. I pushed through out of obligation rather than enjoyment. That alone says a lot. In my opinion, this is the weakest book in the Stormlight Archive, and possibly the moment where the series lost what originally made it special to me. What was once a balance of meaningful character growth, incredible action, and momentum now feels bogged down by endless dialogue and introspection. There is simply too much talking and not enough action, and the pacing that kept me coming back book after book feels gone. What frustrates me most is that this didn’t need to happen. Sanderson has always been capable of deep themes without sacrificing story. But here, it feels like the message is taking priority over the narrative. Romance, something largely restrained and subtle in earlier books, suddenly becomes front and center, and handled in a way that feels heavy-handed rather than informative. Representation isn’t the issue; execution is. At times it feels like the story stops so a point can be made, instead of that point emerging naturally from the world and characters. I’ve invested thousands of pages into this series, and it hurts to say that this single book has taken Stormlight from my favorite ongoing fantasy series to one I’m now forcing myself to finish. I wanted to love it, but I also want to understand what changed, and why, because it feels like something did. For the first time in this series, I was no longer excited to turn the page, and that’s sadly disappointing.
Half the book is talking about mental issues. The book didn’t need to be nearly this long
Brando Sando never fails to amaze. This book was the perfect ending to so many stories built up over the last decade . I can’t wait to return to Roshar for five more novels and wrap up what I believe to be one of the greatest Epic Fantasy tales ever told. And (to all the haters), journey BEFORE destination.
Loved the story, look forward to the next book
It was great and left me wanting more.
Brilliant as ever!! Where is book 6!!! LETS GO!
I loved it!
Amazing finish to an amazing series. Can't wait for the the next books!
Amazing. Sometimes hard to follow. But, I enjoyed the book. All the characters were there from previous books and all seemed to have an ending of sorts. I did get confused during the visions or stepping into an alternate universe. The interludes well just what they were. Not sure if there is anything left for another book or not. I guess wait and see. Long 59 hours but worth it. To me anyway. Both narrators were on target. They are my favorite.
Rough and filled with eye rolls. But long and entertaining
Never has there been a book that has been more disappointing. DNF
The best one yet.
Fantastic job the narration in the story. All of it cannot wait for the next book the story developments, incredible, and the book as well worth the money.
Amazing series!
fantastic book. I love this series.
No one can do it like Brandon Sanderson. I would have never gotten into books if not for him
Incredible conclusion to the epic 7 book Stormlight Archive series
An excellent narration of an excellent conclusion to the first arc by Brandon Sanderson.
I was able to read all 5 Stormlight Archive books in 14 weeks, (though there is a 14 year span between Books 1 and 5 in release dates) so this is my first pause until the next book. I knew going in the series it will be a planned 10 Book Arc, with a big break from the author until he starts writing Books 6-10. So for 5 books at almost 6,000 pages, it's still a mid- way point and still lots of story to tell, so I was never expecting a "close" to the story at any point, so I didn't get frustrated with how "technically " slow the progress of the story is. It's very much a character driven story than plot driven, at this point.
disappointing , cranked all the disappointments with the last book up to 11. The point of the story is contadicary and just bad. It focuses on just terrible points, the magic system that is constructed for the last few books is just blown apart and doesn't follow its own rules. plot holes abound. it forces people together out of no where. Unlike other books by this author there wasn't any emotional connection between any of the characters and the listener/reader. The only feeling you get is un ironic eye rolls, while the characters make the repeated bad choices but remain relevant. A majority of the story is exposition or flash backs that have no bearing on the current events in the story. The narration is top notch. wish the story was better.
I liked it
