Unabridged Audiobook
A web of compassion and connections across generations, countries, cultures and families.
Isabel Allende did it again! Such an amazing read, you will laugh and cry, but most importantly you won’t be able to put the book down. I learned a lot about immigration laws, war, conflict, and how people are able to raise above their circumstances.
I've read & listened to so many Allende books, and this did not disappoint. The narrators were perfect, and always love the imagery. I feel as though I'm there. I feel there is always something to learn from them as well!
I really enjoyed the book. Her writing is quite descriptive. The first seven pages made me feel I was in Vienna, Austria in 1937 or 1938. I liked the characters in the book and especially how they all came together at the end.
I used to love the writing of Isabel Allende, but her last few novels have disappointed, and this one is no exception. It started out quite well, but then the way the stories of the main characters came together was so contrived. Add to that, the way she shoved her political agenda at readers, I felt like I was being preached at.
Very timely. Good job at connecting the historical dots. Isabel Allende continues to engage her readers.
Well written, good pace, emotional in all the right places.
