THE NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches-a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women..
Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale that challenges everything we believe in.

This was well worth the listening time that this unabridged. The narration is believable, and sets the feel. I am looking forward to buying more from this author as well as from audiobooks.com.

I enjoyed the book and the mystery of it. Anne rice is a great author. The narrator is alright. She does well at acting out the dialogue

I know and love the book, off course - so to have it read is hard, as you know what it's like, you've created the characters in your head and the sound of them...... but this narrator is magnificent! I give her my best of recommendations!! I feel as if the story is told by all the characters; she understands the story, she makes it even more tangible and interesting! she speaks English, American with Dutch accent, with Irish sound and sing - and she makes me believe the passages told by a doctor!! She is truly a narrator!

Good story, good narration. It kept my attention, and that's pretty good for an over-50 hour story
