Loved this story. also loved that there's no romance. perfect

I chose this as a VIP reward and am glad that I did. The (mis) adventures of a royally born demon choosing to fool around instead of tending to the curses he has been assigned to, a young girl trying her darndest to break the curse on her family and her younger brother, make for quite an unlikely threesome. It is unclear till the end if they will succeed. Will the demon choose to complete his assignment or will he help the cursed family. I really hope there will be another audio following this most enjoyable listen! The narrator was good and the story line great!!

Wonderfully engaging characters and storyline.

OMG! All I can say is AWESOME AWESOMENESS AWESOMELY!! What a great story! It catches you during the first 3 chapters and it never slowed down! Heart-eye emoji!!!!! I chose this title from a handful of books (it really was the only interesting title offered… and it is a five-star review!) I’m glad I selected it! I would have used a credit on it!! I will look through the other titles from Henry Neff! The narrator was the best one for the job!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Smart, exciting, and funny! Well crafted characters and enough twists and turns to keep you locked in. Narrator did an excellent jobs with voicing all the characters.

Absolutely delightful!

Very clever writing, extraordinary adventure, and it kept me guessing until the very end!! All in all it may be one of the better audiobooks I’ve read. The narrator was perfection, his voice was so soothing and yet perfectly suited for Lazlo the demon. The characters were incredible in depth and personality. I appreciated that in a world full of “spicy” novels, these characters remained completely platonic. It was refreshing and admirable. It was tasteful and almost realistic in some ways. Overall a fantastic read and I’m happy I spent my vip credit on this one!!

Demon societies hiding within the world of humans is not a new concept but this was SO FUN! and SO FUNNY! It is a fast paced adventure across multiple continents with cool witchy folklore creatures from different cultures.. ugh I loved it. I hope he writes more books about side characters and that's really how you know it's a well written novel when you want whole books about multiple characters who only get a scene or two in this one. 10/10

Some books you just are sad to have end! This was one of them! The story captivates your imagination with storylines and subplots. Many surprising moments as well. The characters are well defined and the interactions with each other evolve throughout with changing emotions toward each other. Often fast paced with contemplative moments. I truly enjoyed the characters as well as the story itself. Including the writers narrative in the final notes, time spent in Covid lockdown truly well spent.

I really enjoyed the story. Definitely not a read if you aren’t into the subject matter or super religious. But it was a fun story and hope there is a next book!

This is without a doubt my favorite book of the year. I LOVED this book so much! I haven't laughed out loud so many times during a book. The creativity and humor are just perfect.

This was not the type of book I normally read, however, it was entertaining, very funny in parts, far fetched, and interesting.

I unexpectedly loved this novel (bought on a whim in a 2-1 point deal) and have since looked for more from this author. It made me laugh out loud and entertained throughout its entirety. Character development was wonderful and plot was rich. I’ve listened to it twice now because I felt I may have missed a few things first listen (which was accurate). Loved the use of language, philosophy, and humor. Highly recommend! Narrator was spot-on!

It took me far to long to finish this book. The story´s quite good and sure has some interesting characters. I got pretty annoyed at the younger brother Lump fairly early. He was too naive, too innocent and too irritating. But the author never the less managed to make him work. The only real issue I had must have been the overly sexual themes. The way it was described made it just disgusting, and I'm fairly sure that was intentional. The story was quite a roller coaster where repetitive and boring fetch quests had to compete with cool creatures and places. The end proved more epic than I'd imagined and the epilogue was beautiful.

Loved this book. It was just light enough while still being very entertaining. I look Forward to this becoming a series

The Witchstone is one of those books that you never want to end - which is funny because it’s 17 hours long. Even so, I was sad when it ended and thoroughly enjoyed my time listening. I am a true crime/thriller girly but I LOVED this book!

I enjoyed this book a great deal! It hooked me from the very beginning and I enjoyed most everything about it. The only reason I gave it 4 star is because some of the details surrounding the curse were more graphic and don’t match with what I thought the overall tone of the book was. Other than that- I highly recommend!!!!

it took me awhile to finish but not because I was uninterested. I just didn't have time. Despite my erratic attention,unlike most audiobooks, I didn't have to start the chapter over again to remember where I was in the plot. I listened to this book weeks ago and though I have forgotten the names I will never forget the demon, I loved his sense of humor nor the poor,but resourceful cursed and her amazing younger brother. Not to mention the river gods and their offspring. yeah great book give it a listen.

Very interesting listen! I wanted to like it less than I did but it really hooked me after the first few chapters!

SO GOOD! entertaining, suspenseful, engaging, and funny. Throw in a dash of sadness and extremely well written fight scenes and you have a really great ride. Characters are well developed and complex. Following to see if another book is forthcoming.

I absolutely loved listening to this book! The narrator is my new absolute favorite and I will look for his readings in the future. I really hope this author writes another, either a sequel or a series. Lazlo is a fantastic character! Every character was fully alive in my mind and played pivotal roles in the story. I found myself laughing at loud, talking to the characters, moments of anxiety, and full of hope.

I really enjoyed this tale! It was whimsy, thought provoking, and had parts that were laugh out loud funny. It was a nice change of pace from the “ending guessed” books. I got it through the VIP selection and was probably the best one I have picked so far.

Delightfully entertaining in the most obscure way. The narrator was excellent and kept characters distinctly separated; which was a pleasure to listen to and greatly appreciated. I think the moral of this book is— there is humanity and decency in everyone and everything no matter how deep one has to dig to find it within.

Chose this randomly as a VIP reward, and really loved the fun magical romp through a demon infested world. Looking forward to reading more of Henry's work. Also Ramiz is an incredible narrator, great accents and depth to his voice.

If this book ever became a movie, (which I could absolutely see) it would be a natural off-shoot of Beetlejuice…it seems to occur in the same universe and has the same type of humor. The narrator was really very good…except for his try at a Massachusetts/Connecticut accent. (CT doesn’t really have one so I would have suggested just dropping the attempt!) That is my only peeve. There is one character that was enjoyable but not quite written as expected. I’m not sure how to explain this without a spoiler, so I’ll just say, being really really REALLY old should show in a character’s demeanor through the book and not just at the introduction. Don’t let any of this stop you from listening. It was quite humorous and just a great story with a number of interesting twists and conversations. I would absolutely listen to another book with this demon as a character. A lot was quite fantastical but not convenient (for example - when an author springs well-timed random magic just because they are not skilled enough to have written it in as part of the fabric of the story - none of that here). Long but you won’t get bored. It’s a good one! If you are avoiding certain themes, there is a bit of sexual content and one brief scene of near sexual assault and another I can’t describe without giving away a spoiler.
