Four people are sitting at a table in the Boston Public Library when they hear a scream. Later, a woman is found dead in the library. Bonded by the shared mystery, these strangers form fast friendships. But is one of them a murderer? This murder mystery is told through individual book chapters an author has written telling the story of this murder. There’s feedback on each chapter from a fellow writer. I really enjoyed the creative story within a story aspect of this book. I listened to the entire book within a day because I wanted to know who the killer was! The Woman in the Library is twisty, clever, and well-written. I loved how the two stories merged in chilling ways. Narrator Katherine Littrell was an excellent choice for this book. In a book filled with tension, Littrell adjusts her pacing to give more or less tension to fit each situation. She distinguishes all of characters both male and female. The believable Australian and Southern accents further enhance the narration. Littrell made The Woman in the Library a wonderful listen.

Great at times, but not my kind of read. I usually can't stop reading or in this case listening, but I just didn't feel like like it truly pulled me in.

Nice light mystery. You will think you know who the murderer is about halfway through the book. You'll keep listening because you're sure you must be wrong. It just can't be that simple. But surprise, you got it right! You will feel so smart. Strangely, this did not diminish my enjoyment of the book. Maybe because it was free (VIP pick). Maybe because it's fast-paced enough to stay interesting. Maybe because of the additional side plot that becomes almost interesting than the main plot. I'm not sure what the point of that secondary plot was, but listening to that character slowly spiral out of control was delightful. Great narration didn't hurt. The romance was kind of cringey, but I could deal. I'm not sure I would have paid money for this book, but if you can get it at the library or otherwise for free it'll keep you entertained for a few hours.

I LOVED this book. It wasn’t pretentious or trying too hard. I loved the story within a story and the characters. Wholeheartedly recommend.

I wanted to like this book. It had a good description and many good reviews, but I did not enjoy it. I’m sorry but I couldnt understand what was real and what was fiction. For fear of giving out too much, there were people with a side story woven in and again, who were they/him? Narrator was good especially since the protagonist had an Aussie eccentric so I knew who she was.

I enjoyed the book. I liked how the abroad party kept showing up in both life and the book. The twist was great, both of them. Jul 24

Keeps you guessing right up to the end!

If you want to read the mystery/thriller experience of a comedian going, “do you get it?” After every joke. Then by all means, read this book. The narrator made it someone passable but by gods this book has almost made me swear off this genre.

Took reading the reviews to give this one a try. Was not sure how it would good but was pleasantly surprised and drawn right in: worth the read

The premise — and author corresponding with a fan and a telling a story through their email exchange — was a little plodding and heavy handed at times. But overall, this was fun. There’s some real humor at the end (the hoodies!!!) that I wish had been throughout. The narration was sometimes distracting.

Had a hard time distinguishing between the writer and Leo and the characters of her novel. Perhaps there could have been more of a pause between the two scenarios. There were a lot of aliases and a lot of characters, so it was difficult to keep up with all of them. The storyline was halfway interesting, but the ending for me was predictable. I absolutely love most of the books I read on Audiobooks, but this was when I was glad to be finished with.

So so book - didn’t enjoy

I've never read anything by Gentill before but as an intro, this was an amazing title. There's a plot and a meta plot about a fictional author writing the story you're reading. Very impressive!

I thought this was an excellently written and read mystery. The author leads you in many directions which leads the reader to continue wandering who the murder actually is. It is not a dark suspenseful thriller, but an enjoyable mystery similar to Agatha Christie. If I were reading this book it definitely would’ve been a page turner. The narrator was excellent with her voices!

It was so interesting to read a story inside a story! There were a couple twists and the story kept you on your toes, wanting you to keep reading. The narrator was great doing different accents and voices for each character, so it was easy to keep up with who was talking. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and would recommend to others!
