A small act of kindness brings an extraordinary reward.

Life is hard for a farmer and his wife on their rocky, unproductive land. When the wife rescues a beetle, she discovers that this tiny creature has a remarkable gift to offer. Soon, the couple’s pump begins producing something far more surprising than water: glittering gold coins.

Suddenly, hardship gives way to fine clothes, lavish purchases, and dreams of importance. But as gratitude turns to pride, their eagerness to display their fortune attracts attention they never anticipated.

Written by L. Frank Baum and narrated by Sarah Beals, The Wonderful Pump combines fairy-tale magic with a wry lesson about wealth, humility, and the consequences of showing off. This classic short story invites children and families into a world where kindness earns an unexpected reward—and good fortune brings challenges of its own.
