Summary
Chefs across the globe have honed an incredible system for working with efficiency called mise-en-place. In this audiobook, Dan Charnas reveals how to use those principles in any kind of work, outside the kitchen.

Work Clean spells out the 10 major principles of mise-en-place or putting in place for chefs: 1) Preparation is Prime; 2) Arranging spaces; 3) Cleaning as you go; 4) Making the first moves; 5) Finishing actions; 6) Slowing down to speed up; 7) Call and callback; 8) Open ears and eyes; 9) Inspect and edit; 10) Total utilization. One by one, Charnas shows how applying each of these principles at the office and at home creates a simple system for organizing your life, work, and mind.

I love the ideas, stories, and practical advice. The stories are interesting and bring the tips to life. The structure of the tips is easy to follow. This has changed the way I approach work in several ways already (especially cleaning off my work space -- both physical and digital -- between tasks), and I'm keeping some in mind for later. Dan is a great narrator. My one small complaint on the recording is that swear words are censored. It's annoying to be listening and all of a sudden have the story interrupted by harsh bleeps.

Great book with excellent narration and good stories to make the ideas stick. I loved the use of action steps at the end of chapters to get it going. Some of the Ideas are hard to act upon because they work better in print versions like following directions for the action steps.
